CHP Deputy Chairman Veli Ağbaba revealed how much the minimum wage should be according to the products in September on the increase in some basic nutrients.
Ağbaba made the following statements in his statement: CHP Deputy Chairman Veli Ağbaba revealed how much the minimum wage should be according to the products in September, on the increase in some basic nutrients. Accordingly, if a minimum wage earner wanted to get as many tomatoes in September as last year's minimum wage, the minimum wage should have been 3963 TL in September. If he wanted to buy eggs at the same rate as last year, the minimum wage should have been 3941 TL. This amount increased to 3917 TL in chicken meat and 3522 TL in sunflower oil.
What should the minimum wage be compared to the price of tomatoes, potatoes and eggs?
TURKSTAT announced the September inflation rate as 19,58 percent. On the other hand, it announced the one-year increase rate in food inflation as 29 percent. While the minimum wage increased by 21 percent compared to last year, the price of tomatoes increased by 70 percent, the price of potatoes by 58 percent and the price of eggs by 69 percent.
In this case, when the minimum wage increase rate is compared with the increase rate between products, the minimum wage continued to depreciate against some basic nutrients, as the increase difference was not reflected in the minimum wage.
The one-year rate of increase in some basic food products has reached 70 percent. Based on TURKSTAT's item basket and average item prices, and the weight ratios of basic food products in the item basket;
If a minimum wage earner wants to buy tomatoes at the same rate as last year, the minimum wage should be 3963 TL as of September, and if he wants to buy eggs at the same rate as last year, the minimum wage should be 3941 TL. This amount increased to 3917 TL in chicken meat and 3522 TL in sunflower oil.
The products missing from the table cause a minimum wage family to live half-starved.

Announced to Erdogan, who says the prices are very affordable
Erdogan is shopping at the agricultural credit cooperative market and says the prices are very reasonable. However, none of the products he buys in his shopping are among the daily basic nutrients. Erdogan is so alienated from everything that he has no idea that vegetables, eggs and oil are among the daily staples. As he has no idea, he is unaware that the minimum wage earner could not buy the product this year at the same rate as last year.
