Izmir Bay Festival, hosted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, came to an end. Speaking at the ceremony where the winning teams in the İzmir Arkas Gulf Race were presented their awards, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Suat Çağlayan said, “The President Tunç Soyer's biggest dream is to use the Gulf more actively. You started to develop his dreams," he said.
İzmir Bay Festival, organized for the fourth time this year by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, has come to an end. On the closing day of the festival, the cortege, which started from the land and sea in front of Konak Pier, ended at Gündoğdu Square. The folk dance performance in the square and the Southern Sea Area Command Band concert were the scene of colorful scenes. İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Burhan Suat Çağlayan, Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Tugay, İZDENİZ Chairman of the Board Hakan Erşen, Aegean Offshore Yacht Club (EAYK) President Akif Sezer, Chamber of Shipping (DTO) İzmir Branch President Yusuf Öztürk, Arkas Sports Club Sailing Branch President Mert Oruz attended. Göksel also took the stage at Gündoğdu Square as part of the festival. Göksel made tens of thousands of İzmir residents experience enthusiastic moments.
“Soyer's biggest dream is for the Gulf to become active”
Speaking at the award ceremony, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Burhan Suat Çağlayan said, “We are in an evening where we are very excited. Our President Tunç SoyerI send my greetings and love. You started to develop his dreams. His biggest dream is for the Gulf to become active. But not with one or two events, but with much wider, time-bound events and races to bring the Gulf alive… Unfortunately, it was a difficult two-year period that intervened. We hope to make up for this lost time in the coming years. We watch races all over the Gulf,” he said.
Aegean Offshore Yacht Club President Akif Sezer said, “I thank the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and the President, who are the biggest stakeholders in the organization of the festival. Tunç SoyerWe thank you. I would also like to thank all our participating clubs and sailors.”
Arkas Sports Club Sailing Branch President Mert Oruz said, “It was two wonderful days where everyone was very happy. Izmir Marina hosted this event very well. We were always expressing that Izmir desperately needed a marina. For two days, the sailboats swayed like swans in the sea, we want to see more of them,” he said.
Award-winning teams
Arkas MAT Sailing Team won the IRC A0 category in the Izmir Arkas Gulf Race, the second Team Spirit, the second Team Spirit, the first in the IRC A1 category Team Line A Rossa, One Yacht İzmir Sailing second, Cygnus first in the IRC A2 category, Yediçeriler second, Mercer third, IRC B category. Blicra Shakara took first place, Meltemi second and Goodday Sunshine third. In the support category, Pars-1 was the first, Pearl M was the second, and the Final was the third.
The awards were given to the winning teams by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Burhan Suat Çağlayan, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Tugay and İZDENİZ Chairman of the Board Hakan Erşen.
