J-35 Fighter Plane Developed by China for Aircraft Carrier Makes Its First Flight

The fighter jet, named J-31, developed by China over Shenyang FC-35 for aircraft carriers, made its first flight.

One of the new investments made by China in naval aviation was the naval fighter aircraft developed through the Shenyang FC-31 (also known as J-31) for new aircraft carriers. The aircraft, which is similar to the F-35C (the derivative of the F-35 to be used for aircraft carriers), except that it is twin-engined in design, is called the J-35, although there is no picture. Images of the aircraft were shared on Weibo, China's social media platform.

It is possible that the new aircraft developed on the J-27 is named J-11, similar to the relationship between the J-15, the Chinese derivative of the Su-31, and its STOBAR version J-35, developed for aircraft carriers.

Along with the KJ-2021 aircraft carrier-based Early Warning Aircraft, which is reported to have completed its tests in early 600, unlike the Lianoning and Shaodong aircraft carriers with STOBAR (Short Takeoff-Catch Landing) logic, the J-003 will be deployed on Type-35 aircraft carriers that will have a catapult. As compared to the F-35A, the 35C can be expected to have a larger wing area than the FC-31, foldable wings, and the take-off-landing equipment necessary for catapult take-off and interception.

Shenyang Aircraft Corporation, an affiliate of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), announced on its WeChat account in April 2021 that it is planning to develop a new generation fighter jet for the Chinese Navy, adding additive manufacturing, surface electromagnetic flaw control and automatic fiber for the successful development of the aircraft. He mentioned that related technologies, including placement, will be used.
