Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's wife Emine Erdoğan, attended the introductory ceremony of the "No School Without Library Project" organized by the Ministry of National Education at Martyr Teacher Mehmet Ali Durak Secondary School. In his speech at the ceremony, Minister Ersoy said that it is only possible for a person to discover himself, to make sense of life and his adventure on earth, only through education.

Emphasizing that the quality of education is the issue that develops societies in the modern world and enables individuals to be better equipped in the face of life, Ersoy stated that in this respect, very important investments have been made in the field of education by the government in recent years, and serious steps have been taken towards increasing the physical opportunities as well as the dissemination of education.

“We attach great importance to the work of Let There Be No School Without a Library”

In addition to all these, Ersoy said that a new perspective has been put forward that brings education and culture side by side and reveals that these two basic elements are two inseparable parts.

“The relationship between education and culture has been strengthened so that our children learn the basics at school, as well as raise them above a certain cultural level. Identifying the basic works and teaching them in our educational institutions is an important work that has been brought to life from this point of view. As the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, we will continue to support all these efforts to increase the cultural capacity of our students. Our main goal is to ensure that young people from all over our country have access to cultural and artistic activities as they wish. We will further expand museums, libraries, art centers, exhibition and movie theaters so that our youth can be included in the world of culture and art. In schools, we will ensure that our children get to know Yunus, Yahya Kemal, Tanpınar, Osman Hamdi Bey, Münir Nurettin, Neşet Ertaş, Turgut Cansever and Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The more frequent the relationship between culture and education, the more we strengthen this relationship, the higher the quality of education will be. From this point of view, I would like to state that we attach great importance to the study of Let There Be No School Without a Library.”

“We want to raise generations who have trained themselves in every field and produce values for the age they live in”

Ersoy said that as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, they will give their best support for the establishment of libraries in schools.

Expressing that bringing children together with books, enabling them to spend their time in libraries more qualified and productive, and making them contact with art, literature and thought, makes them both excited and proud, Ersoy continued:

“We want to raise generations who have trained themselves in every field, who read, understand, question, do not isolate themselves from what is happening in the world, and produce values for the age in which they live. If we spend our time and energy to enrich our world of education and culture, we will not lose our quality of being a nation in the process and will not turn into a heap. Because lack of culture is one of the biggest disasters that can happen to a society. The great marches on the stage of history were realized not only within the financial means but also thanks to the cultural power. Hopefully, we will turn our historical walk in the fields of science, technology, economy and production into one of the biggest breakthroughs in our history with our power in the field of culture and art.”
