Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank stated that in this new program covering the 2021-2023 period, they focused on the priority needs of the region with a high potential to create added value and said, “With the budget of 395 million liras we have allocated, sustainable use of land and water resources, economic growth in tourism, industry and energy, humanities. and we will implement operational programs in the main areas of institutional capacity building.” said.

Varank stated that this meeting is very meaningful for regional development policies in Konya at the KOP Regional Development Program Promotion Meeting held at the Selcuklu Congress Center. Expressing that Konya is the locomotive of regional development, Varank said that the KOP region corresponds to 12 percent of Turkey's surface area, and that it is an area where 8 million people live in 4,5 provinces.

Pointing out that the Konya Plain Project is one of the biggest development projects in Turkey with its historical background, Varank said, “With the KOP Regional Development Program, we are creating the strategic framework for the breakthroughs that our administration and related institutions will make in the region in the 2021-2023 period. We will coordinate and activate public investments to be made in the KOP region within the framework of the program.” he said.

Stating that the KOP Regional Development Administration has implemented comprehensive policies for the development of Aksaray, Karaman, Konya, Niğde, Nevşehir, Yozgat, Kırıkkale and Kırşehir since its establishment, Varank said, “We have provided 10 billion lira support to 1920 projects in the region in the last 1,2 years. By implementing the Small-Scale Irrigation Works Program, we have accomplished very important works in water management in our region. With the 885 projects we implemented within the scope of the program, we rehabilitated 1 million 310 thousand decares of land and provided it with a modern irrigation infrastructure. As a result of these rehabilitations, we have saved approximately 200 million cubic meters of water per year.” used the phrases.

Varank stated that they managed to combine the knowledge of the past with the knowledge and technology of the future in agricultural production, and that they brought the farmers together with innovative production techniques with the KOP TEYAP and KOP RURAL programs. Stating that they carry out important projects in areas such as solar cells, energy efficiency applications, and evaluation of geothermal resources, Varank emphasized that they continue to support the social development of the region while accelerating the economic development of the region.

Informing that they have transferred 25 million liras to 52 projects aimed at improving tourism infrastructures, Varank stated that they have implemented 244 projects within the scope of the "Project for the Development of Reading Culture in the KOP Region".

Stating that the new generation action plan of the KOP Administration was prepared in cooperation with other stakeholders in the region, especially Mevlana, Ahiler and Central Anatolian development agencies, Varank said, “In this new program covering the 2021-2023 period, we focused on the priority needs of the region with a high potential to create added value. In the program, Governor of Konya Vahdettin Özkan also made a speech with the Mayor of Konya Metropolitan Municipality Uğur İbrahim Altay and the Head of KOP Regional Development Administration Mahmut Sami Şahin.

KOP region governors, deputies, mayors, heads of chambers and commodity exchanges and guests attended the meeting.
