IMM President Ekrem İmamoğlu, visited the 'Baksı Museum' founded by the couple Oya-Hüsamettin Koçan in Bayraktar Village of Bayburt. İmamoğlu expressed his views on the museum, which is an 'art oasis' located in the middle of the steppe, saying, “It is a very valuable proof of what a person can do to change life alone. As IMM, we want to establish a strong cooperation network with the Baksı Museum on behalf of the people of Istanbul. It's been a great job. It's changed life. These lands owe them a huge debt of gratitude.” İmamoğlu emphasized that as IMM, they will cooperate with the Baksı Museum on behalf of the people of Istanbul.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu, passed from Gümüşhane to Bayburt yesterday evening, where it was met with great interest. PROF. KOÇAN: “IF WE DON'T CREATE NEW STORIES, THE FUTURE WILL NOT BE”
Making a speech in the conference hall of the Museum, Prof. Koçan described his dream Baksı Museum as “a project that respects the cultural richness of Anatolia”. Emphasizing that Anatolia is one of the most important cultural producing geographies in the world, Prof. Koçan said, “While we are striving to restore this reputation to Anatolia, we will also own our story. We will protect our memories and our legends. But if we don't create new stories, if we don't have dreams, I think there's no future. Baksı is a project that combines these two, it is a bridge.” Stating that he was considered "crazy" when he decided to implement the project, Prof. Koçan said, “I think it's good that we have dreams. I think that those who follow their dreams are valuable. I think that those who run their dreams are building the future. That's why we understand each other very well. Because we, all of us, are running to live our dreams.”

"We took a step towards a society that escaped its story," said Prof. Koçan said, “We find this very dangerous. And we see the future as a threat. I think we're lost for him. I have a critique of modernism. Modernism has promised us a lot. It didn't deliver exactly what it promised. That's why these lands no longer produce as they used to. People want to leave this land. They want to get away from human stories. It's not a good situation. That's why we will reread our story and believe that it is our duty to write the story and epics of the future." COUNCIL OF EUROPE WINS MUSEUM AWARD IN 2014
Bayburt artist and academician Prof. Dr. Baksı Museum, built by Hüsamettin Koçan in 2012, is an art museum located in Bayraktar Village, 45 kilometers from Bayburt. “baksı”, the old name of Bayraktar Village where it was founded sözcüğ means "scientist, physician, shaman" in ancient Turks. The museum houses contemporary art and traditional crafts. The museum, which has sections such as exhibition halls, warehouse museum, workshops, conference hall, library and guest house, was established on an area of 40 decares. Baksı Museum received the “2014 Council of Europe Museum Award”, given under the auspices of the European Parliamentary Assembly, on Tuesday, 8 April, in Palais Rohan, Strasbourg. The bronze statuette of Joan Miro, "Woman with Beautiful Breasts", which is the symbol of the award, was exhibited at the Museum for 1 year.
