Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality has completed its preparations for the “2 International Observation Event” that will be held at Zerzavan Castle on September 4-2021 this year.
The Metropolitan Municipality has completed the infrastructure and road works for the "3 International Observation Event" to be held on September 2-4 at the 2021-year-old Zerzavan Castle, which is on the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Tentative List. made the field ready.
After the decision of the National Observatory of Turkey (TUG) to hold the country's most comprehensive astronomy and outdoor event in Antalya Saklıkent for 22 years, this year at Zerzevan Castle, the teams took action to set up a tent for the guests coming from abroad and inside the city to stay. It carried out work in an area of 8 square meters.
Expanded space for guests
Building Road Maintenance and Infrastructure Coordination Department expanded the area for the event by filling the lower parts of the historical Zerzevan Castle, which is considered one of the 10 best places for sky observation in Turkey, with 6 cubic meters of material.
For the event, which will bring together 1500 astronomy enthusiasts from Turkey and abroad, the teams then laid 4 tons of material on the floor of the expanded area, considering that tents and stands would be left.
Sitting benches and garbage bins were placed in designated areas.
Parks and Gardens Department, sitting benches in the areas determined within the scope of landscaping works in Zerzevan Castle and garbage bins were placed in order to prevent environmental pollution that will occur in the historical area.
The teams completed the environmental cleaning by mowing the weeds growing around the Zerzevan Castle and made the area ready for the event.
