Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank opened the Turkey Open Source Platform 42 Schools. With the trainings to be given in new generation software development schools in 42 Istanbul and 42 Kocaeli, foreign dependency in software will decrease. Students will learn software from each other by project and gamification method without an instructor.
Minister Varank inaugurated the “Turkey Open Source Platform 42 Software Schools” in Vadi Istanbul. At the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Consul General of France in Istanbul Olivier Gauvin, General Manager of Havelsan Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar, Aselsan General Manager Haluk Görgün and Evyap's Senior Manager Mehmet Evyap were also present.
Speaking here, Varank stated that they put the said school into the service of young people with 400 computers in Vadi Istanbul with the venue sponsorship of Evyap, and shared the information that the other school will start its activities in Kocaeli as of September 27.
Stating that they aim to expand these schools in other provinces in the future, Varank said, “The trainings in these schools, which will be open 7/24, are completely free. Students will learn software from each other through projects and gamification without an instructor. We cooperated with the French brand Ekol 42 to achieve the international standard in these schools.” said.
Providing information about the education system of the schools, Varank said, “Ekol 23, an international brand with 36 campuses in 42 countries, is considered among the best coding schools in the world. Our goal will be to train software developers who can quickly join the employment market, rather than just raising software developers.” said.
Noting that the Turkish Open Source Platform will support young people in part-time work during education and full-time work after education, Varank said, “Our young people will have the opportunity to work with valuable companies of the sector in real projects. Our platform member companies will be able to meet, follow and employ students during their education. Thus, we will create a dynamic ecosystem that meets the needs of everyone.” used the phrases.
Emphasizing that the lack of a trainer in the school is the most important feature of this school, Varank said, “Here, our students both teach and evaluate each other in a completely gamified and project-based way. We can say that 100 percent of the students and graduates who have attended these schools so far have found a job.” he said.
Stating that Turkey has also developed its army of software developers on the way to make Turkey the producer of critical technologies, not the market, Varank said, “We have stated this need in the Industry and Technology Strategy, which we prepared with the vision of the National Technology Move. In 2023, we aim to have at least 500 thousand software developers in our country. Here, Turkey Open Source Platform and 42 software schools will perform very important tasks at this point.” he said.
Stating that the Open Source Platform of Turkey will be the most important supporter in bringing 42 Schools students together with employment opportunities, Varank said, “Here, we will build an eco-system that meets everyone's needs. I call out to software companies, entrepreneurs and even our students. You have a lot to add to this platform and this platform to you. Let's join forces together and develop our national and original software." he said.
Explaining that the project has a very large audience, Varank said, “Our Ministry, TÜBİTAK TÜSSIDE and Informatics Valley have been coordinating this work since the beginning. Our Istanbul and East Marmara Development Agencies finance the project with the support of 27 million liras. Our platform members support both educational activities in schools and projects carried out on the platform. Ekol 42, an international brand in software, also implements innovative education models in our schools.” he spoke.
Ecole 42 Schools Director Sophie Viger, who sent a video message to the opening ceremony, congratulated Turkey, which is included in the Ecole 23 network, which continues its activities with 36 campuses in 42 countries, and wished the students success in this exciting journey.
