Russian steel and mining giant Mechel has announced that it has won the tender for the supply of rails to the Moscow Metro. Shipments will begin this month.
According to the contract, the company will supply more than 5.000 mt of RT62 type rails to Russia, produced at the rolling mill of its subsidiary Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant. The tracks will be used for the reconstruction of existing metro lines and the construction of new lines in the Russian capital.
Last year, Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant supplied the Moscow Metro with 25.000 mt of track rails for the construction of new lines and the repair of existing lines.
