Izmir Metropolitan Municipality drew attention to the disease by illuminating the Historical Clock Tower in Konak Square in purple on September 21, which is accepted as Alzheimer's Day all over the world.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality joined the worldwide awareness movement by lighting the Historical Clock Tower in Konak Square in purple to draw attention to Alzheimer's disease on September 21, World Alzheimer's Day.

In the event where Alzheimer's patients and their relatives came together, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Secretary General Ertuğrul Tugay, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Community Health Department Head Sertaç Dölek, Healthy Life and Home Care Branch Manager Gökhan Vurucu, Community Health and Education Branch Manager Ruhan Ayan Çerezcioğlu, Alzheimer's Association of Turkey İzmir Branch President Belgin Karavaş and citizens attended.

Alzheimer's patients and their relatives sat on their chairs and performed dance performances within the scope of the event.

Senior care for Alzheimer's and dementia patients

In addition to the Healthy Aging and Solidarity Center, Alzheimer's and Dementia Center, which was opened in 2013 within the body of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, provides support services for first-stage Alzheimer's and dementia patients in order to perform their daily living activities. The elderly guests who come to the center accompanied by the staff are served breakfast, lunch, afternoon breakfast and dinner. During the day, daily health checks and hourly follow-up of medications are carried out.
