IMM is putting the sea taxis produced in Haliç Shipyard into service at the end of this month. The new generation and environmentally friendly vehicles have been specially designed to be used by the disabled, families with strollers and cyclists. The fares of the taxis to be reached via the mobile application will be determined at UKOME. After six months, the minibus taxi model will be adopted.

The production started in January and was made public by the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Ekrem İmamoğlu The water taxis introduced by the company successfully passed the test drive. Eight of the 50 taxis produced at Haliç Shipyard will begin to serve at the end of this month. In the taxis, which are aimed to serve everyone instead of the upper income class, the minibus model will be used within six months.

Sea taxis will no longer only appeal to the upper income group. It is aimed to keep the fees to be determined at UKOME at a reasonable level so that everyone can benefit.

LOCAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL

The design of the sea taxis, which are completely domestically produced in Haliç Shipyard, belongs to Sinem Dedetaş, General Manager of City Lines. Sea taxis, of which all engineering works are carried out within the company, will also attract attention with their environmentalist feature. Five of the sea taxis, which will consume 3 liters of fuel per mile, will run on electricity.

WILL NOT BE DEPENDENT ON THE PIER

Sea taxis will allow the use of the sea in places where public transportation is not available, as well as taxi services. It will both alleviate vehicle traffic and increase the use of the sea route. With its design that can dock anywhere, it will eliminate the dependency on scaffolding and will make a difference by getting on and off at the desired place.

NO OBSTACLE

While designing the vehicles, attention was paid to ensure that they were both comfortable and appealing to every disability group. Disabled people, families with baby carriages, battery powered vehicles and cyclists will be able to use the new generation water taxis easily.

WILL BE CALLED BY MOBILE APP

Those who want to use the sea taxis, the first test drive of which was carried out on August 30, will make a call via the mobile application. In the first place, calls can be made from 98 piers. Later, the application will be expanded and passengers will be able to get on and off wherever they want. After six months, the shared taxi will be switched to the dolmuş model.

TOTAL 50 TAXI

For now, 50 sea taxis are planned to serve. 8 taxis will be put into service at the end of September and a total of 45 by the end of the year. Five electric models will be included in the fleet in February 2022.

10 PASSENGER CAPACITY

There will be two personnel, a captain and a sailor, in sea taxis that will carry ten passengers. Among these personnel will be women sailors.

ISTANBUL CHOOSED THE COLOR

The color of the first water taxi designed and produced by IMM was chosen by the people of Istanbul. The blue color, called 'Bosphorus', won 150 percent of the total 36 thousand votes.
