The Emirates Airline Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides humanitarian as well as charitable aid and services for children in need, highlighted the importance of International Literacy Day last week with the whole world.

Through its partner NGOs, Emirates strives to increase youth literacy and provide access to education for disadvantaged children around the world.

Sir Tim Clark, Chairman of the Board of Emirates Airline Foundation, said: “Literacy and education are essential building blocks for the well-being of societies and a brighter future. The foundation is driven by the belief of helping disadvantaged children access basic education. Through the generous support of our passengers and employees, and through various projects led by our business partners, NGOs, our Foundation has extended a helping hand to thousands of young people around the world to achieve a better future, and will continue to do so in the future.”

Since its founding in 2003, the Foundation has supported more than 50 projects and NGOs around the world, and 11 of these organizations' primary focus is literacy programs. Some of the organizations supported by the Foundation include: IIMPACT Education for Girls Project (India); Little Prince Nursery and School and Starehe Boys' Center and School (Kenya) and Externato São Francisco de Assis (Brazil).

Since 2015, the Emirates Airline Foundation has supported the IIMPACT project in India in its mission to enable young girls to get an education. The Foundation has also been instrumental in establishing 100 new learning centers across the country and providing primary education to nearly 11 girls in 3000 states.

The Foundation proudly supports two NGOs in Kenya: Little Prince Nursery and School, which provides pre-primary and primary education to over 400 disadvantaged children from the outskirts of Kibera, and provides scholarships to help disadvantaged children access quality education in hopes of a better future. Starehe Boys' Centre, which helps.

The Foundation has also played a pivotal role in distributing meal programs for children in need at Little Prince Nursery and School, thereby directly contributing to increased attendance and improved academic performance.

Since 2017, the Foundation has supported Externato São Francisco de Assis in Brazil, giving more than 70 children access to its learning centers and programs. The foundation also donated more than a dozen computers to the facility and funded the school's monthly support program to help with expenses.

The Emirates Airline Foundation is an organization led by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Said Al Maktoum, Chairman and Managing Director of Emirates Airline and Group, working to transform lives and support the societal phenomena that need the most attention. The Foundation currently supports 9 projects in 14 countries and helps improve the lives of children in need around the world, regardless of geographical, political and religious boundaries.
