In two separate operations carried out by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams in Mersin, 61,2 kilograms of drugs, counterfeit banknotes corresponding to 305 thousand US dollars and 150 thousand Iraqi Dinars, and 1 thousand 283 sexual stimulant pills were seized.

In the first operation carried out by Mersin Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate, a truck arriving at Taşucu Port was evaluated as risky, and it was first sent for x-ray scanning. In the truck, which was then sought by narcotic detector dogs, suspicions concentrated in the fuel tank of the tow truck.

As a result of cutting the fuel tank of the truck, which was taken to the search hangar for detailed control, it was determined that 292 cloth bags were stored in the secret compartment created in this section. In the analysis of the compressed powder substance in the cloth bags that were opened by removing them from the place they were found with a drug and chemical substance detection device, it was determined that there was a drug known as stone cannabis in the market. As a result of the operation, a total of 61,2 kilograms of drugs were seized.

During the ongoing searches in the same vehicle, counterfeit banknotes corresponding to a total of 305 thousand US Dollars and 150 thousand Iraqi Dinars were also detected in aluminum packages. An investigation was launched before the Silifke Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the issue.

In the second operation carried out by the Customs Enforcement teams at Mersin Port, a wanted truck was sent for an x-ray search. Upon the detection of suspicious concentrations in the truck, it was determined that there were 1 sexual stimulant pills in total, which were wanted to be smuggled out of control by not being notified during customs procedures, in addition to the legal burden.

In two separate operations carried out at short intervals by customs enforcement teams in Mersin, a total of 16 million Turkish Liras worth of drugs and sexual stimulant pills were seized.

Investigations regarding operations are continuing.
