An "agricultural summit" will be held in order to evaluate the support given by CHP municipalities to agriculture, to introduce them to the public and to determine the road map for the future.

The "CHP Municipalities Agricultural Development Summit", the preparations of which have been going on for a long time, will start tomorrow at the Istanbul Eurasia Exhibition Center. The slogan of the summit to be held between September 30 and October 2 was determined as “New policies in agricultural development, producer-oriented solutions”. In addition to 160 CHP municipalities, more than 300 agricultural cooperatives will attend the summit. Agricultural products of municipalities and cooperatives will also be exhibited in the sections prepared for them in the fair area. At the summit, the contributions of municipalities to agricultural production will be discussed and the party's agricultural program in the upcoming period will be determined concretely.

CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu will speak

CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu will also make a speech at the summit and announce the party's agricultural policy to the public. After his speech, CHP leader Kılıçdaroğlu will visit the sections where the products of municipalities and cooperatives are exhibited.

Grandson criticized the government

Seyit Torun, Deputy Chairman of the CHP for Local Governments, made the following statements regarding the three-day summit:

“We are experiencing one of the most fundamental problems of our country in agricultural production. The government, which has been ruling Turkey for 19 years, has turned agriculture into a ball of problems with its wrong policies over the years. Production is falling, uncultivated agricultural lands are increasing. This situation causes almost extinction of economic life in the countryside. The government, on the other hand, does not support our farmers, rents agricultural lands from foreign countries, and resets import taxes to buy agricultural products from abroad.

New policies will be determined

Our municipalities make great contributions to our domestic producers. At this summit, we will discuss the support given by our municipalities to agriculture, introduce them to the public and determine the steps we will take from now on. We will now reveal what policies we will implement for agriculture in local governments and then when we come to power. Our municipalities are struggling with all their means to solve every problem in our country. Despite all the pressures of the government and all attempts to prevent it, our municipalities bring services that the government cannot provide to our citizens. When we come to power with the support of our people, we will solve all the problems of our producers in a short time. We know the problems and we are ready with our solutions.”
