Alstom delivered Turkey's first locomotive equipped with ETCS Level 1 and 2 for the Eskişehir – Kütahya – Alayunt – Balıkesir railway line.

The agency's statement is as follows: As part of a contract with the Republic of Turkey State Railways (TCDD) to supply the signaling and telecommunication systems on the line connecting Eskişehir, approximately 260 km east of Ankara, to Balıkesir, near the Aegean coast, the European Train Control System (ETCS) ) delivered the first of 1 locomotives equipped with levels 2 and 26. This 328 km long railway line also serves the city of Kütahya.

The new signaling system will enable TCDD to manage the railway services in the Eskişehir - Balıkesir corridor efficiently and smoothly. It will also be possible to increase the capacity of the line.

Eskişehir – Kütahya – Alayunt – Balıkesir (EKB) project, including the design, manufacture and supply of the entire line, as a trackside and on-board modernization project for the EKB line, the latest technology ERTMS/ETCS Level 1 and 2 based Alstom signaling system Atlas, the interlocking solution It includes Smartlock and Iconis, an integrated control center. In addition, Alstom supplies level crossing systems, technical equipment buildings, as well as power distribution and uninterrupted power supply systems. In the Alayunt – Afyon line section, the GSM-R system is provided for the project.
