Noting that the assembly, integration and tests of the TÜRKSAT-6A satellite were carried out at the Space Systems Integration and Test (USET) Center, Karaismailoğlu said, “The project's engineering model integration activities have been completed and the testing phase has begun. In 2021, it is expected that the satellite flight model integration activities will be completed and the environmental test phase will be started. TÜRKSAT-6A satellite; It will also be subjected to standard and commercial test stages that are accepted in the satellite industry.”

THE SATELLITE IS PLANNED TO LAUNCH IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2023

Stating that the project will enable Turkey to be among the 10 countries that can produce communication satellites, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the production and testing process of the satellite to be produced is planned to be completed at the end of 2022 and to be launched within the first quarter of 2023.

FIRST CONTRACT DIRECTLY SIGNED WITH THE LAUNCHER

The launch services of the TÜRKSAT-6A satellite are provided by TÜRKSAT A.Ş. Expressing that it is his responsibility, Karaismailoğlu continued his explanations as follows:

“In this context, the necessary studies and preparations are carried out in coordination with the Project Manager Institution TÜBİTAK UZAY and other stakeholders. The solutions and proposals of many launcher companies were meticulously examined for the provision of launch services. As a result of the evaluations and negotiations, the Falcon-9 rocket of Space X, located in the USA, which offers the best solution in terms of both technical, administrative and financial aspects, was selected as the launcher. In this context, Türksat and Space Exploration Tech. Corp. (Space X) company signed the contract for the supply of launch service for the TÜRKSAT-6A satellite. This contract is also signed by TÜRKSAT A.Ş. It is the first contract signed directly with the launch company instead of the satellite manufacturer for the launch service. Activities and transactions within the scope of the said launcher service procurement contract are carried out by TÜRKSAT A.Ş. It will be carried out with expert staff.”
