CHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Akın brought the allegations about the Ankara-Sivas YHT line, which was opened on September 4, 2021, before it was completed, to the agenda of the Parliament.

CHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Akın; Stating that the determinations regarding the unsuitability of the infrastructure in many sections of the Ankara-Sivas High Speed Train (YHT) line were not taken into account due to the opening pressure until the last moment, he said, "Why was the opening preparation made until the last moment, although it was determined that the infrastructure filling was not suitable? Was it deliberately risked for a possible catastrophic opening?” made its assessment.

CHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Akın brought the allegations about the Ankara-Sivas YHT line, which was opened on September 4, 2021, before it was completed, to the agenda of the Parliament. Having submitted a parliamentary question to the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Adil Karaismailoğlu, Akın expressed the following in summary:

OPENING PREPARED AGAINST THE RISKS

It was known by the public that preparations were made for the opening of the Ankara-Sivas YHT line, which has turned into a snake story for 14 years, on September 4, 2021. After our warnings that opening the line before it is completed would cause security risks, the opening date was postponed. While the dismissal of the General Manager of TCDD on September 4, the postponed opening date of the line, draws attention; There are claims that the preparation for the opening of the line was made despite the knowledge of many security risks.

IT WAS DETECTED THAT THE INFRASTRUCTURE IS NOT SUITABLE

It is known that approximately 20 percent of the Ankara-Sivas YHT line will be operated on the existing old rails. While this situation causes a security risk in itself, it is stated that the new line, which should be suitable for high-speed trains, does not technically meet this criterion. It is stated that the infrastructure filling material used in the new line built in this context does not carry the necessary technical values and is not suitable. The fact that the filling material used on the ground does not meet the technical values; It is stated that it will cause a possible accident risk during the high speed passage of the train.

OFFICIAL OPINION DISCLAIMED FOR OPENING

It was also determined by the tests that the material used in the infrastructure filling did not meet the technical values. It is claimed that TCDD's departments related to this issue gave a negative opinion on the grounds that the line is not suitable for the operation of the train. It is stated that although the issue was officially recorded and negative opinions were reported, preparations were made for the opening of the line. Although the negativities in the YHT line are determined by the relevant departments in TCDD, it is confusing that the opening preparations are made until the last moment. If these claims are true, who is responsible for ignoring the negativities for the opening preparation?

'Did the disaster EVEN DANGER?'

CHP Deputy Chairman Ahmet Akın asked Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu, “Why was the opening preparation made until the last moment, although it was determined that the infrastructure filling was not suitable? Was it deliberately risked for a possible catastrophic opening? If these claims are true, who is responsible for ignoring the negativities in preparation for the opening? posed the questions.
