Section 50 for Submarines was Produced for the First Time in Turkey

A historical success was achieved by producing Section 50, the head section of submarine torpedo tubes, which only a limited number of countries in the world can manufacture, for the first time in Turkey.

For the Turkish Naval Forces Command, we have completed another critical phase in the New Type Submarine Project (YTDP) initiated by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). The head section (Section 50), which contains the submarine torpedo tubes, was produced for the first time in Turkey, with domestic and national resources, under the engineering and coordination of STM, at Gürdesan Shipyard. We delivered the first Section 50 for Reis class submarines from Gürdesan Shipyard in Yalova to Gölcük Shipyard Command by sea today (13 September 2021). The first Section 50, produced and delivered with national resources, will be integrated into YTDP's 3rd submarine, TCG MURATREİS.

Until March 2022, 3 more Section 50 will be delivered

The production of Section 3, the third ship, which was first delivered, started in 50. Under the coordination of STM, Turkey's leading engineering company in the field of military maritime, the nozzle holes of the said durable boat were machined, and the sleeves were welded. After the painting and assembly processes, Section 2018 successfully completed the acceptance tests in a very short time with zero errors. Section 50 of the 4th, 5th and 6th submarines in the project will be delivered by March 50.

It will fire 8 guided missiles

Section 50, the most critical part of the Reis class submarines, which will be the most modern submarine platform of the Turkish Navy, contains the submarine main weapons and systems that allow the firing of guided missiles. Thanks to the Section 50 produced, Reis Class Submarines are armed with 8 533mm torpedo tubes. Within the scope of the project, the delivery of 2022 Reis Class Submarines will begin as of 6. The section containing the torpedo tubes of the first two submarines was manufactured by the German ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS), the main contractor of the project. The Section 3 section, which will be located in the 4rd, 5th, 6th and 50th submarines, is being produced for the first time in Turkey at Gürdesan Shipyard, under STM main subcontracting.
