Noting that as the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, they evaluated the transportation and communication systems in Turkey as a whole, Karaismailoğlu drew attention to the fact that they made Turkey a leader in its region and an effective transit and connection point in the world in all transportation modes during the AK Party governments.

CONSTRUCTION OF 3 THOUSAND 500 KM NEW RAILWAYS CONTINUES

Karaismailoğlu stated that railway investments, which have existed for a century and a half in Turkey, were left to long-term indifference and their own fate after the first years of the Republic, and continued his speech as follows:

“Since 2003, we have given priority to railway investments. As a first job, we renewed all of our existing railway networks. We increased the length of the railway to 12 kilometers. Our 803 thousand 3 km new railway construction is still continuing. Since 500, we have increased the signaled railway line length by 2003 percent and the electrified line length by 172 percent. Our work continues intensively to make all of our railways electrified. Between 180 and 2003, we invested 2020 billion liras for railway investments. We have become an international transit and logistics center in the Middle Belt of the Silk Railway line stretching from China to England. We strengthened our effectiveness in our region with our Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line. We made TCDD the 212th high-speed train operator in Europe and the 6th in the world.”

MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE CONDUCTED 312 KM IN URBAN RAIL SYSTEM

Expressing that they continue their success in intercity railroad management in the same way in urban rail systems, Karaismailoğlu emphasized that 12 kilometers of the urban rail system, which has a length of 812 kilometers in 312 provinces, is built by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Karaismailoğlu stated that 6,5 million daily and 2 billion 393 million passengers are carried annually in the rail systems built and put into service by the Ministry of Transport, and made the following assessments:

“Besides Istanbul, we continue the construction of a 14-kilometer rail system on 185 separate lines in Bursa, Ankara, Kocaeli, Konya, Kayseri and Gaziantep. In Istanbul, our work on the construction of 7 lines of rail systems continues intensively. These; Gayrettepe-Kağıthane-Eyüp- Istanbul Airport Metro, Küçükçekmece Halkalı- Başakşehir-Arnavutköy-Istanbul Airport Metro, Pendik-Tavşantepe-Sabiha Gökçen Airport Metro, Bakırköy (IDO)-Bahçelievler-Güngören-Bağcılar (Kirazlı) Metro, Başakşehir-Çam Sakura Hospital-Kayaşehir Metro, Altunizade-Ferah Mahallesi-Çamlıca Metro and Kazılçeşme – Sirkeci Urban Transportation and Recreation project that we launched. “WE WILL CONTINUE OUR WORK FOR OUR NATION”

Karaismailoğlu said that when the projects are completed, the rail system length of Istanbul will increase to 354,3 kilometers.

Minister of Transport, Karaismailoğlu, said, “We will continue to spend our energy to solve the problems of Istanbul and its inhabitants. We will not allow the theft of labor by those who do not do the work that is incumbent on them and pour excavations on the ongoing subway construction. What this mentality does best is to oppose! Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge; They said "we do not want" to Marmaray, Eurasia Tunnel, Istanbul Airport and Osmangazi Bridge. They also opposed the Izmir Highway, the Northern Marmara Highway and of course the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge. We did not take these unserious and short-term mentalities into account. We continued on our way with the mind of the state. As a result, these works brought speed to the daily life of our people, brought savings, brought comfort," he said.

Noting that they continue to work excitedly to take the big steps taken in this field with the vision and support of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, thanks to the “Railway Reform” announced last year, Karaismailoğlu said, “During our governments, our railways are the most important investment among our investments in transportation and communication. It became the second mode of transportation. As of today, the railway is the first mode of transportation where the most investment is made. As the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, we continue to weave our country's railway network. While doing this, we produce all the machinery and equipment needed by our railways in our country with domestic and national resources.

NUMBER OF PASSENGERS USING MARMARAY APPROACHES 600 MILLION

Stating that they are making efforts to prioritize Turkey as an advantageous transit point on the railway line stretching from Beijing to London, Karaismailoğlu said that they have attached the "golden ring" of this line with the Marmaray railway crossing to Istanbul. Underlining that they have connected two continents under the sea with Marmaray, one of the most important projects in the world, Karaismailoğlu said, “The number of passengers using Marmaray so far has approached 600 million. Since April 17, 2020, when the first freight train passed, 108 trains have carried 990 thousand tons of freight over Marmaray.
