IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluattended the funeral held at the 'Ses Theater' for master theater actor Ferhan Şensoy. Speaking here, İmamoğlu said, “We are all sad, we bid him farewell, but his name and works will always live on. KadıköyWe have a very special scene in 'Museum Gazhane'. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğluattended the funeral of Ferhan Şensoy, the 4th Kavuk member of the Turkish Theatre. A funeral ceremony was held at the 'Ses Theater' for Şensoy, who died at the age of 31 in the hospital where he was treated on Tuesday, August 70. Many of his fans and friends who shared the same stage attended the ceremony held at the 'Voice Theater', where Şensoy dedicated his life and played many of his plays. Şensoy's coffin was put on the stage wrapped in the Turkish Flag and Galatasaray flag. Culture and Tourism Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluFerhan Şensoy's wife Elif Durdu Şensoy, his ex-wife Derya Baykal and his son Mert Baykal, Müjgan Ferhan Şensoy, Derya Şensoy, Ali Poyrazoğlu, Zeliha Berksoy and Şevket Çoruh made speeches.

EKREM İMAMOĞLU: THE IMPORTANT MASTER OF POLITICAL SATISFACTION

In his speech, İmamoğlu said that they started Tuesday with sad news and that they came to the Ses Theater today to bring Şensoy together with his friends who have passed through this world. Emphasizing that Şensoy is an international artist, İmamoğlu said, "At the same time, the symbol of our comedy tradition, the important master of political satire, who carried the turban for thirty years, is one of the milestones of our theater history."

IT'S A GREAT PRIVILEGE TO WATCH IT

Stating that Ferhan Şensoy made great efforts to keep the Voice Theater alive, İmamoğlu said, “I know that watching Ferhan Şensoy on this stage and applauding him is one of the most special and precious memories of many people like me and Istanbulites. We remembered once again how deep traces the Sound Theater left in the cultural and artistic memory of this city, this country, and we will never forget it.”

Explaining that Şensoy's works are now entrusted to them and that they will do some work to keep Şensoy's name alive, İmamoğlu concluded his speech as follows:

"KadıköyWe have a very special scene in Museum Gazhane. We want to keep his name alive. We talk about them with family, loved ones, friends. Together we make the right decision. 'We are not in the age of bending and twisting. He actually gave a deep message to all of us by saying, 'We have a responsibility to bring Turkey to the light. He gave one of his last interviews to a magazine of our Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. In that magazine, he conveyed courage, not giving up, insistence, with very beautiful sentences. Indeed, we are all sad, we bid him farewell, but his name and works will always live on. I wish God's mercy. I would like to express my condolences to his family, friends, lovers, the entire art community and even to our Istanbul and our country.”

MEHMET NURİ ERSOY: HE HAD A VERY STRONG LANGUAGE

Speaking at the funeral, Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said that Şensoy spent all of what he earned from art for his art. Ersoy continued:

“Today, Turkish theater lost a great plane tree. He had a very strong language that described these lands and our people in a very plain and simple way. He was loved by every part of our society. Mr. Usta Şensoy told in a TV program he attended one day that he started this profession by entertaining the youth in the theater he founded when he was starting his profession. Now our star will always fluctuate in our art sky and will always keep its place. It is our duty to keep the trusts they left us alive from now on. This should be our top priority. It will be our primary duty to do everything in our power in line with his family's intentions and discretion."

BURIED IN ZINCIRLIKUYU CEMETERY

After the ceremony held at the 'Voice Theater', Şensoy's funeral was brought to the Teşvikiye Mosque. After the afternoon prayer, Şensoy's funeral prayer was held. IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluŞensoy's funeral will be buried in Zincirlikuyu Cemetery, which is his eternal resting place.

HE WAS THE 4TH KAVUKK OF THE TURKISH THEATER

The unforgettable name of the Turkish stage, İsmail Hakkı Dümbüllü, handed over Kavuk, which he took over from his teacher Kel Hasan Efendi, to Münir Özkul in 1968. Kavuk, representing the middle play, was handed over to Ferhan Şensoy, the founder of Ortaoyuncular Theater Group, by Münir Özkul in 1989. Kavuk, which was transferred to Rasim Öztekin by Ferhan Şensoy in 2016, was transferred to Şevket Çoruh by Öztekin in 2020.

“ONE DAY I WILL FLY FLY TO THE SKY…”

A funeral ceremony was held for Rasim Öztekin, who died on March 8, 2021, at the Ses Theater. He sent a letter to the ceremony, which Ferhan Şensoy could not attend due to health problems. The letter read on stage by Şensoy's daughter Derya Şensoy included the following statements:

“Rasim, the amateur subject of the middle players, was brought up from the theater on duty. He joined Ortaoyuncular in a short time. I handed over my hoodie to him. He had a very successful period in the middle gamers. He left the stage due to some ailments. He transferred the Kavuk to Şevket Çoruh. The day has come, it has flown to the sky, the photograph of the kavuklu hangs The sound in 1885. One day I too will fly to the sky, we will meet in the sky, in a cheerful tavern.”
