Emirates, the world's largest international airline, announced today that it will launch its first scheduled commercial Airbus A1 service to Istanbul from 380 October. For the first time, passengers from and to Turkey will have the opportunity to regularly experience pleasant flying with this iconic double-decker jumbo jet.

Emirates will use its A380 aircraft to operate daily EK123/124 service. Flight EK123 will take off from Dubai at 10:45 and land in Istanbul at 14:25. The return flight EK124 will depart from Istanbul at 16:25 and arrive in Dubai at 21:50. All times are in the local time zone.

By launching the three-class A380, Emirates will offer a total of 14 seats with 76 private suites in First Class, 427 mini-units with convertible seats in Business Class, and 517 extra-haul seats in Economy Class. Compared to the current Boeing 777-300ER, this will provide 150 passengers more capacity per flight.

First Class passengers can enjoy Emirates' private suites and signature in-flight Shower Spa, while First and Business Class passengers can relax in the famous Onboard Lounge on the upper floor. Passengers of all classes will be able to take advantage of free wireless internet to stay in touch with family and friends, the largest in-seat screens in the industry, and Emirates' multi-award-winning inflight entertainment services, which already includes over 4500 channels.

Adnan Kazım, Emirates Commercial Affairs Director, said: “We are excited to finally bring our flagship to Istanbul, along with many other major cities we currently serve with the A380. Since Emirates started Turkey flights 34 years ago, we have carried six million passengers on more than 23.000 flights. The launch of A380 services in Turkey is a very important milestone for Emirates and we would like to thank all our business partners and stakeholders who have supported us in making this a reality.”

Majid Khan, IGA Istanbul Airport Aviation Development Director, said: “The arrival of the Emirates A6 is another milestone for us since we moved into our new 'home' at Istanbul Airport on April 2019, 380. I am proud that Emirates, the world's largest A380 operator, will start flights to Istanbul Airport and Dubai - Istanbul, which will be Turkey's first A380 operation.

This operation will help us increase traffic between the two nations. In the post-Covid-19 era, Emirates' wide network will bring more domestic tourism to Istanbul and Turkey from destinations that are currently not served or under-served from Istanbul Airport. We look forward to further developing our good relationship with Emirates and are delighted to welcome the Emirates A380 at Istanbul Airport.” said.

The double-decker A380 is the largest commercial aircraft in service in the world, and its spacious and quiet cabins are exceptionally popular with passengers around the world. Emirates is currently the world's largest A118 operator with 380 aircraft in its fleet.

With the reopening of international borders and the relaxation of travel restrictions, Emirates has gradually restarted passenger services and will operate 17 passenger flights per week from Dubai to Istanbul, in the morning, afternoon and evening.

The A380s will operate in the morning and increase the total weekly capacity on the route in both directions to 7000 seats, giving passengers more choice and connectivity to more than 120 destinations.
