Subsidies were granted for the renewal of more than 68 million pastures in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. The regional authorities responsible for agriculture and animal husbandry stated that the aim is to renew the rangelands that have been in danger of extinction due to overgrazing in the last ten years.
The central government has been subsidizing the renewal of grasslands throughout the country since 2011. In this context, Inner Mongolia has distributed more than 45,5 billion yuan ($7,03 billion) of subsidies to the livestock producers to support local livestock and ensure proper breeding.
In this way, the destruction of pastures is prevented and the adequacy of these pastures can be effectively protected. A total of 27 million hectares of deserted pastureland has been reused. In addition, 41 million hectares of pasture area of the region has been put into use as needed on the basis of a balanced ecosystem.
