The 9th International 9 September İzmir Half Marathon will be run on Sunday, 5 September with record participation. Days before the closing of registrations, the target number of 2 was reached.
In line with the goal of Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer to transform Izmir into a sports city, Marathon Izmir is on its way to becoming an international brand, while the International September 9 Izmir Half Marathon gained significant momentum. The traditional race, which will be run for the 5th time on Sunday, September 9 this year, reached the highest level in its history with the targeted 2 thousand applications, days before the closing of the registrations. Organizing committee officials announced that the number of participants was limited to 2 thousand due to pandemic rules, while the number of participants was limited to 500 due to the pandemic last year.
Half Marathon will be run on the route of Cumhuriyet Square – İnciraltı – Cumhuriyet Square on Sunday, September 5th. The start of the race will be at 07.00:1,5. Distance and hygiene rules will be applied in the Half Marathon. Entrances to the event area will be made from a single point and with fever measurement, and a social distance of 3 meters will be left between each athlete. While the start will be given in groups of four, there will be a gap of at least two meters between each group. Athletes will be able to get their chest numbers, chips and running t-shirts from the event area to be set up in Cumhuriyet Square between 4:2021 and 09.00:20.00 on September XNUMX and XNUMX, XNUMX. Chest numbers and running t-shirts will not be distributed on the day of the competition.
At the end of the race, general classification men and women, general classification Turkish male and female athletes as well as 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59 and 60-64 age groups will be awarded prizes.
