Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, who made investigations in the flood-affected areas in Kastamonu and Sinop, made a statement about the schools. Minister Özer said, “As of now, we have completed all our preparations for the start of education on September 6 in Kastamonu, Sinop and Bartın. In preparation for the new academic year of all our students in this region, we will provide all stationery materials as the Ministry. At the same time, we will distribute tablets to all our students affected by the flood.” he said.

In a statement to reporters, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer pointed out that the state has been on the field to heal the wounds since the day of the flood, and said, “All ministers managed the process in a coordinated way. We, as the Ministry of National Education, managed the process with our deputy ministers, all our general managers and provincial directors regarding the rapid start of education in our educational institutions, not only in Kastamonu but also in Sinop and Bartın, from the beginning of the flood disaster.” said.

Explaining that education will start in the region, Özer said, “As of now, we have completed all our preparations for the start of education on September 6 in Kastamonu, Sinop and Bartın. In case of a change in the school building, we included our students in the scope of bussed education. We will take our students to their free school. They will eat their hot meals at noon, and we will deliver them to their homes in the evening. In preparation for the new academic year of all our students in this region, we will provide all stationery materials as the Ministry. At the same time, we will distribute tablets to all our students affected by the flood.” he said.

Expressing that the experts of the ministry are working in the region, Özer continued as follows:

“All our specialists and psychosocial support specialists working under the General Directorate of Special Education and Guidance get in touch with our parents in the field and meet with our students. On the one hand, they manage the process in coordination with AFAD and the Ministry of Interior in order to heal the wounds of physical damages, on the other hand, to cover the psychosocial damages. We have opened all our hostels to our parents who have problems with their homes. They stay in our hostels free of charge, and they can eat their meals at the same time. Our Ministry has completed all the processes related to the repair or demolition of existing schools. We made the necessary plans and transferred all the resources to Kastamonu, Sinop and Bartın.”

Underlining that there are no problems with preparing for the new education and training process, Özer said, “All of our friends are in the process. Hopefully, the planned process will work until September 6th and we will start hosting our students in our schools without experiencing any further trauma. We will make a different plan for our students here. We will have additional measures in the first weeks for our children who have not survived the trauma. Our friends continue their preparations.” he used his words.

Thanking the teachers who took part in the process, Özer said, “Not only in Kastamonu, Bartın or Sinop, but also in Antalya and Muğla in the fire disaster, they went to the field, disregarding the situation of their families, and fulfilled the task given to them self-sacrificingly in cooperation with our governorships. I am proud of all of them. I would like to thank all our teachers who took part in both flood and fire disasters.” said.

Minister Özer also thanked the Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu and bureaucrats who have provided coordination since the beginning of the process.
