Artists' Film International (International Artist Films) program, which includes videos, animations and short films of artists from different geographies of the world, focuses on “Taking Care” in its 14th year.

Istanbul Modern is organizing its Artists' Film International (International Artist's Films) program as an exhibition at its temporary venue in Beyoğlu, following the online screening. The videos this year focus on “taking care”. All the elements that bring life together; The necessity of caring about nature, the environment, animals, plants and people, and at the same time approaching the forms of relationships we establish with each other as countries and individuals, becomes more critical with each passing day. Especially after a year when the whole world was closed to homes due to the effect of a virus and people focused on their ability to act collectively through the same needs in order to continue their lives, the concept of "taking care" is well felt.

Who is Sena Başöz?

Artist and director Sena Başöz (b. 1980, İzmir, Turkey), living and working in Istanbul, received her BA in Economics from Boğaziçi University in 2002 and her MA in Film and Video from Bard College Milton Avery Art Faculty in 2010. completed. Sena Başöz's artistic practice focuses on post-traumatic healing processes based on the importance of care and attention, regeneration of nature, long-term balancing and self-healing of the organism.

Artists' Film International, which started in 2008 under the leadership of Whitechapel Gallery in London, continues with the partnership of 22 art institutions from different geographies. In this context, institutions that share their research on video art with each other participate in the program by choosing an artist and his work from their country within the framework of a certain theme every year. In the past years, Istanbul Modern participated in the program with the videos of Ali Kazma, İnci Eviner, Sefer Memişoğlu, Bengü Karaduman, Burak Delier, Vahap Avşar, Zeyno Pekünlü, Cengiz Tekin, Pelin Kırca, Senem Gökçe Oğultekin and Ergin Çavuşoğlu.
