Objection petitions regarding the construction of the high-speed train passing through Edirne Central district Sazlıdere Village Pasture were given to the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization. “Please leave the pastures alone,” said Ayten Eren, President of Edirne Environmental Volunteers Association.

Under construction by the General Directorate of State Railways Çerkezköy-To be used within the scope of Kapikule Railway Construction Project, Edirne Environmental Volunteers Association members and environmental friends filed an objection petition to the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization regarding the construction of the high-speed train passing through Sazlıdere Village Pasture in the Merkez district of Edirne. CHP Edirne Deputy Okan Gaytancıoğlu attended the press release. Association President Ayten Eren read the following statement:

THEY MEET FOR OBJECTION

“As Edirne Environmental Volunteers Association, together with our members and environmental friends, 500 m. to Sazlıdere Village by DDYolları. from the village pasture ÇerkezköyWe are here to make our objections to the project of material supply to the Kapikule line. When we examine the project introduction file, it is unacceptable that village pastures, which do not have a livelihood other than agriculture and animal husbandry, are turned upside down and plundered in order to buy materials for the railway. What is done here is to seize the pasture of the people of the region and destroy the grassland formed over thousands of years for the benefit of the company, to end animal husbandry, to damage the cultivated agricultural lands around it, to the living people, with its dust, noise, and the traffic load that will occur with 126 truck transports a day.

Such projects should not be so close to the settlements, village pastures should not be sacrificed just because they correspond to the profitability of the companies. The main duty of the state here should be the health of its citizens, the protection of their livelihoods and the protection of the natural environment. Public interest should be prioritized, not corporate profit. Otherwise, he wouldn't be here for these things, my brother, he should say, there is a law to protect village pastures. Where is the public interest? If the Ministry of Environment will not protect these places, what will they do? I'm calling out to those responsible from here, how many village pastures did you allow to be slaughtered? Our Thrace is our country's sunflower, wheat and rice warehouse, and livestock is the livelihood of our villages.

LEAVING THE PASSAGES COZY

Please leave the village pastures alone, our fertile agricultural lands will continue to disappear in this way, don't forget that above ground is more valuable than below. Our villagers said that this project had already started while the PTD was still suspended, that the construction equipment had been in operation for a long time and that they were not informed, and that they were digging from the best part of the pasture, not from the barren areas, because it was easy for them. This is an illegal situation. The most productive parts of the pasture have already been removed and excavated without a project approval from the Ministry and permission from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture.

This is also a criminal complaint. In the 2872rd article of the Environmental Law No. 3; general principles regarding the protection and improvement of the environment have been explained; the project in question; It will cause irreparable damage to the 'environment', and will irreversibly affect the nearby settlements around it, all kinds of living and non-living life and the lives they lead in the 'ecosystem' as a whole. In accordance with the jurisprudence of the Council of State, starting from Article 17, Article 56 and Article 63 of the Turkish Constitution; As E.Ç.GD, we request the EIA process of your Ministry to be terminated in line with the right to prevent the pollution of their environment, villages, fields, lands, waters and the ecosystem as a whole, and to live in a healthy environment, as per article 3/a of the Environmental Law. ”

WE DON'T ALLOW THE SLAUGHTER OF THE RANGE

CHP Edirne Deputy Okan Gaytancıoğlu also said: “While these were being done, pasture commissions, scientists and universities were not consulted. There are areas in our region that have lost their agricultural characteristics and cannot be cultivated. If we kill nature, nature will take its revenge on us. Let's protect the natural pasture. We are calling out to the authorities: Since this EU Project money comes from there. Go to farther places to get pasture, from lands that do not have the characteristics of agricultural land. We do not allow the slaughter of the pasture. Soil was taken from Sazlıdere pasture to build the Kırklareli road last year. It will be taken today to build a high-speed train. Will soil be taken from here for another project tomorrow? This is wrong. We need the road and we need the environment. Let's not pollute our soil resources. In this way, we want to leave a legacy for the future.”
