It showed that photovoltaic electricity production in China, which took important steps towards reducing carbon dioxide emissions and becoming carbon neutral, increased by 23,4 percent in the first half of the year compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to data released by Wang Dapeng, director of China's National Energy Administration, the country's electricity production from solar energy in the January-June period was 157,64 billion kilowatt-hours. Wang said that in the same period, the newly added installed photovoltaic electricity generation capacity was 13 million kilowatts, and the total installed photovoltaic electricity generation capacity reached 268 million kilowatts at the end of June.

China announced in June that it would end subsidies from the central budget for new central photovoltaic stations, distributed photovoltaic projects and onshore wind projects in 2021 and achieve grid parity. According to China's National Development and Reform Commission, the policies enacted from August 1 aim to promote efficient use of resources and develop high-quality new energy sectors such as solar and wind power.
