The Metropolitan Municipality, which turns to environmentally friendly, environmentally and human-friendly renewable energy sources, put into service 65 compressed natural gas (CNG) buses, which it bought with its own resources without using credit.
65 buses operating with clean energy (CNG) compressed natural gas, which will operate within the scope of Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation Planning and Rail Systems, started service with a ceremony. Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yücel Yılmaz has fulfilled another election promise by bringing the safe, comfortable and environmentally friendly public transportation he promised in the 2019 election campaign to Balıkesir. Last week, the Metropolitan Municipality accepted the 65 buses that run on compressed gas (CNG) and can be boarded with QR code, contactless credit card and virtual card. The Metropolitan Municipality, which turns to renewable energy sources that are environmentally friendly, respectful to nature and people, aims to provide energy efficiency and emission reduction in public transportation. The buses will also have ramps for the disabled so that disabled people can easily reach them. To the commissioning ceremony of CNG buses held in the station area and hosted by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Yücel Yılmaz; Balıkesir Governor Hasan Şıldak, Balıkesir Deputies Belgin Uygur, Yavuz Subaşı, Mustafa Canbey, AK Party Provincial Chairman Ekrem Başaran, Drivers and Automobile Tradesmen Chamber President Rıza Tekin, BMC Land Vehicles General Manager Bülent Santırcıoğlu, district mayors and district governors, representatives of public institutions, NGOs and citizens participated.
ADVANTAGE OF 100 PERCENT PURCHASED
The current (2021) busses, whose current price is 160 million liras, were designed in 2020 and purchased with the municipality's equity capital for 78 million liras in Turkish lira without using any loans, a 100% advantage was achieved. The buses will fill the fuel tanks from the CNG station, which has been saved on an area of 4 thousand m2 in the Intercity Terminal area.
NATURE-FRIENDLY AND ECONOMIC
Buses using compressed natural gas CNG contain 90 percent less nitrogen and 15 percent less carbon monoxide, compared to other fuels that are environmentally and environmentally friendly, ecological and efficient, and have a quiet use. In addition, CNG is 30 percent more efficient than diesel, 70 percent more efficient than gasoline, and 40 percent more efficient than LPG.
EXTREMELY SAFE
Compressed Natural Gas CNG is highly secure, lighter than air, and the possibility of flashing and explosion in leaks is very low according to scientific data. With its 120 and 125 octane values, fully combusted CNG does not mix with oil, so it is extremely convenient in maintenance costs and maintenance.
