Izmir Metropolitan Municipality had closed the Cable Car Facilities until August 10 in order to prevent forest fires that broke out one after another throughout the country. The deadline has been extended by one week. The cable car will be opened to visitors on Tuesday, August 17.

Following the ban on entry to forest areas brought by the Izmir Governor's Office, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality also closed the Balçova Cable Car Facilities to visitors until Tuesday, August 10. Due to the continuing risk of forest fire, it was decided that the facilities will remain closed for another week. The cable car will be opened to visitors on Tuesday, August 17.

On the other hand, the voluntary work initiated by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Police Department to support the implementation of an unauthorized entry ban to forest areas, which will be valid until October 1, continues. The teams constantly monitor the forested areas surrounding the city center from the air with the support of electric cars and drones. It is aimed to prevent negligence that may cause fires by establishing checkpoints on the roads leading to the forests, especially on weekends. The application will continue until the end of summer.
