Transport and Infrastructure Minister Adil Karaismailoğlu said, “Unfortunately, 2 of our citizens passed away in Sinop and we reached them. Our search and rescue efforts continue intensively for our losses.” said.

Expressing that the region was adversely affected due to heavy rains in Sinop, Kastamonu and Bartın as a result of the heavy rains that started on Tuesday night, Karaismailoğlu said, “Unfortunately, 2 of our citizens passed away in Sinop province and we reached them. Our search and rescue efforts continue intensively for our losses.” he said.

“Our work on Bozkurt, Ayancık and related villages continues.”

Reminding that the patients hospitalized in Ayancık State Hospital were evacuated to Sinop center, Karaismailoğlu said, “We are making an intense effort to reactivate Ayancık State Hospital. As of last Tuesday, 24 kilograms of precipitation per square meter fell in just 240 hours in Ayancık district. There was a rainfall reaching 30 kilograms in 300 hours in Ayancık. This is a very rare amount of precipitation. Unfortunately, these rains were also exposed to flooding, as these rains heavily affected the region.”

Karaismailoğlu said, “We continue to work on Bozkurt, Ayancık and related villages in particular. A large number of AFAD, UMKE, TAF and Gendarmerie Search and Rescue teams were dispatched to support the work in the region. Again, in order to eliminate the effects of the disaster in the region, DSI, Construction Affairs, Iller Bank and all institutions of our state, especially municipalities and especially Samsun Metropolitan Municipality, make a great effort. A total of 17 helicopters, 1512 personnel, 357 vehicles and construction equipment are currently operating in Ayancık, Türkeli and the surrounding villages.” he said.

“398 people were evacuated from the flood area”

Stating that 398 disaster victims living in Ayancık district and its neighborhoods were evacuated from the region last night, Karaismailoğlu said, “We opened the Sinop-Ayancık road to transportation as a result of intense work. There was damage to the İkisu Bridge due to the rains. For this reason, Çatalzeytin-Türkeli road, Türkeli-Erfelek-Sinop road and Ayancık-Chios road were closed to traffic due to the damages. Ayancık-Çay road for the Ayancık-Türkeli road, and the Türkmen village and Hatip village road for the Ayancık-Erfelek direction are used as alternative routes. In addition, sea transportation is carried out to Turkeli. Our aid is also delivered by sea. Currently, there is a transportation problem between Türkeli and Çatalzeytin, and we are trying to provide it by sea.” said.

“May Allah not let us and our country experience these disasters again”

Pointing out that the country has started to experience disasters very often, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “May Allah not let these disasters happen to our country and to us again, but in case of disasters, we immediately coordinate under the coordination of AFAD, and all the institutions, municipalities and governorships of our country engage in a total struggle. We see his example today. in Sinop, Kastamonu and Bartın. Again around this table, we plan what we do today and what we will do tomorrow. There is a struggle to stand up strong cities. Again, hopefully, we will remove the traces of this disaster.” said.
