Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, which takes full advantage of the opportunities offered by technology to ease the urban traffic in Şanlıurfa, has implemented another innovative project within the scope of "Smart Transportation Strategies".
Radar speed detection indicators were placed on the busiest boulevards of the city by the Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Department Intelligent Transportation Systems Branch Directorate.
With the radar speed detection indicators installed in order to minimize the accidents throughout the city, the instantaneous speed of all vehicles is detected and in case of exceeding the speed limit, the drivers are warned by the LED screen placed on the street.
IMPLEMENTED IN 5 DIFFERENT PILOT REGIONS
Within the scope of the studies in which 5 main arteries were determined as pilots, radar speed detection indicators were put into use on the Şanlıurfa-Diyarbakır road, Şanlıurfa-Gaziantep road, Şanlıurfa-Mardin road, Şanlıurfa-Akçakale Road and Karaköprü-Seyrantepe road.
With the system installed, drivers who exceed the speed limit on the main arteries will be warned to be a little slower on the LED screens installed on the street. Şanlıurfa Metropolitan Municipality, which aims to spread this practice, aims to prevent accidents by implementing systems that warn drivers with this project.
