Görece, which is adjacent to the 13-hectare Çatalkaya Grove, which produces over 450 thousand tons of oxygen per year, has become the new living space of the city. Görece, whose infrastructure was completed many years ago due to its location in the protection basin, has no pollutants, and has become the new route of exemplary urbanization, which İzmir misses, with its only horizontal architecture.

According to the İzmir Environmental Status Report published by the Provincial Directorate of Environment and Urbanization in 2017, there is not much pollution in the city. Problems such as the lack of sewerage network due to its location in the protection basin, the inability to treat domestic wastewater, and the failure to properly construct cesspools do not exist in Menderes and Görece, to which it is connected.

Because it is adjacent to the 450-hectare Çatalkaya Grove, Görece is a candidate to become the Kazdağları of İzmir. According to the data of the General Directorate of Forestry, while one hectare of coniferous pine forest produces 30 tons of oxygen per year, this rate rises to 13 tons in Görece and its surroundings. According to the air measurements made by a private institution, the air quality values in Görece were at a clean level compared to many settlements in İzmir. While the carbon monoxide rate throughout the city varies between 500 and 60 PPB at many points, it was determined that Görece had very low values of 77 PPB.

Although there is vertical construction throughout the city, the pandemic and earthquake caused significant changes in housing preference. Apparently, he was lucky again in this respect. Because Görece, which has a precedent of 0.60 and only horizontal architecture is allowed, has also become the new address of those looking for a peaceful life.

Strategic management expert Prof. Dr. Engin Deniz Eriş drew attention to the advantages of Görece and said, “We have the opportunity to create a wonderful place with urban cultural values. Dokuz Eylul University Continuing Education Center Deputy Director Prof. Dr. Approaches such as protecting the values of the past, blending the old and the new together are among the sine qua non of sustainable urbanization. While determining the new city life, İzmir has to give great importance to the preservation of cultural values and their adaptation to the present. While designing cities by thinking of future generations, Görece stands out as one of the best areas we can leave as a legacy. Apart from its strategic importance, all actors of urbanization have a great responsibility for Görece, which is different with its location advantage and environmental cleanliness.
