Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer announced the details regarding the initiation of face-to-face education at all levels in the 2021-2022 academic year. Stating that the 2021-2022 academic year will start with face-to-face education, 6 days a week, at all grades and all grade levels, on Monday, September 5, Minister Özer said, “As the State of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of National Education, our first priority is to protect schools by taking all health precautions. is to keep it open. We have taken all our precautions regarding this. We will follow these measures. Our parents should be very comfortable," he said.

Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer shared the details regarding the initiation of face-to-face education at all levels in the 2021-2022 academic year.

Reminding that the Kovid-1,5 epidemic process has caused problems all over the world in the last 19 years, Özer explained that as the Ministry of National Education, they tried to be with the students through distance education from time to time, especially with the EBA digital platform and TRT EBA channels, by keeping the schools open from time to time.

Özer said, “We are starting the 2021-2022 academic year with face-to-face training 6 days a week by taking the necessary precautions on Monday, September 5 at all grades and all grade levels.” He stated that they will organize an adjustment week for preschool and primary school 1st grade students on 3-1 September.

Özer said, “Our students will come to schools at certain times, they will get used to the school, and they will develop their dialogue with their teachers. Hopefully, we will open our schools full-time, fulfilling the expectations of all our parents, all our teachers, all our students without any problems.” used his statements.

Stating that the schools determined all the measures to be taken against the Kovid-19 epidemic together with the Ministry of Health, Özer said, “We have reported all the details such as hygiene measures in services and schools, use of masks, ventilation, to all governorships, all our provinces and all our districts, by working with the Ministry of Health. ” said.

Kovid-19 measures seminars will be given to teachers

Minister Özer reminded that the new academic year vocational work period activities for teachers will be held between 31 August and 3 September, and stated that they made some changes in this year's program. Stating that they have changed the content of the seminar week this year, Özer said, “We have prepared very comprehensive training seminars for our teachers this year, completely in line with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health regarding the measures to be taken in schools during the Kovid-19 outbreak, the protection of our students and teachers, and the careful execution of the processes. Since pre-school and first grades will start school on September 1-3, we will organize seminars for our teachers at this level on August 31, while the professional working period of our teachers at all other levels, which will start on September 6, will be held on September 1-3.” he said.

“We need to protect our students so that we can continue education”

Reminding that with the start of the face-to-face education period, teachers and school staff, who are obliged to meet with students within the scope of Kovid-19 measures, will be asked to be screened with a PCR test twice a week if they are not vaccinated, Özer said on a question about whether there will be such an application for students.

“There is disinformation in the public about this issue. First of all, we would like to state clearly that there is no obligation for vaccination and PCR testing for our students. As stated in the guide here, not only our teachers, but also all of our employees who are included in the education environment, from the bus drivers to the auxiliary personnel in the shuttles, the administrative personnel in the schools, the canteen and cafeteria employees, will be vaccinated if they want to be vaccinated. The vaccine is not mandatory, the process is voluntary. Our teachers and school staff, who are obliged to meet with our students, have to have PCR tests twice a week if they will not be vaccinated.”

World data shows that the rate of transmission from children to adults is much lower than the rate of transmission from adults to children. Therefore, we need to protect our students so that we can continue education. We have to take every precaution to ensure that our students continue their education in a healthy way.”

PCR test status of unvaccinated village school teachers and staff

Reminding the Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca's statement that the compulsory PCR tests required within the scope of face-to-face education will be carried out free of charge in state hospitals, Özer said, "Our work with the Ministry of Health regarding the PCR tests of our school staff and teachers who are not vaccinated and who work in places such as our village schools where transportation is difficult. continues. We are working with the Ministry of Health teams to ensure that our unvaccinated teachers and employees (village schools) have PCR tests.” gave the information.

Kovid-19 status of all schools will be followed

Noting that the Ministry has developed an electronic tracking system, where the processes for cases and contacts can be followed in order to ensure a healthy education-teaching environment during the Kovid-19 outbreak, Özer said:

“Parents, rest easy. Our electronic tracking system is ready for the Kovid-19 measures we have put forward on a school basis. Our schools can use this data themselves, as well as our district national education directorates will be able to follow all schools in the district through this system. Provincial directorates of national education will be able to control the processes in their own districts, as well as the relevant general directorates as the Ministry, the processes in all schools affiliated to them. With multiple control, we have taken all our measures for the healthy operation of the system.”

Minister Özer stated that an information form will be given to the parents at the beginning of the school so that they can share information in case of a possible illness and said, “We need to make it clear that there is no commitment here, there are reflections on the public from time to time on this issue. In case of any case, it is not a text in the form of a commitment to inform the school, this text is only a text that schools are informed about the Kovid-19 processes.” made its assessment.

“We will meet all the needs of our teachers”

Referring to the precautions regarding the use of medical masks in schools, Özer stated that all teachers, staff and students will come to schools wearing masks in the new education period. Expressing that if students, teachers and staff need masks again during their stay in schools, free mask support will be provided, Özer said:

“Currently, we have sent all kinds of appropriations related to the supply of masks to all our schools in 81 provinces. Our schools have made all kinds of investments and stocks related to masks, disinfectants and hygiene conditions. In particular, I would like to point out that all masks and disinfectants to be used in our schools are produced in our vocational technical education schools and institutions, as well as in public education centers and special education vocational schools. We have restructured our masks and disinfectants in 81 provinces to meet our own needs, not from outside. During this process, there will be no problems with masks and other needs in our schools. On the other hand, we will give a hygiene kit consisting of mask and disinfectant to our teachers free of charge every month. We will meet all the needs of our teachers in this field.”

Emphasizing that education should be normalized for the normalization of life, Özer said that it is not possible to reset the number of Kovid-19 cases for now:

“As the State of the Republic of Turkey and the Ministry of National Education, our first priority is to keep schools open by taking all health precautions. We have taken all our precautions regarding this. We will follow these measures. May our parents rest in peace. After all, this is a multi-stakeholder issue. It is not only an issue related to our teacher community, but also an issue that concerns our parents, employees, bus drivers, canteen and cafeteria staff. There is no hesitation in this matter: All our parents want our children to enter the school by taking all health precautions. Then we will always cooperate. My request is that all our parents, teachers and employees strictly follow all the rules specified in the Guidelines for the Precautions to be Taken at Schools in the Kovid-19 Epidemic, which we prepared together with the Ministry of Health. If we follow these rules, we can manage these processes very easily. There may be difficulties, but we are in a position to solve all of them in the process.”

Vaccination call for parents, teachers and education workers

Expressing that the PCR test results of the parents will not be checked, Özer said, “Of course, we ask the parents to get their vaccinations.” said. Underlining that there will be absolutely no monitoring or follow-up regarding parents, Minister Özer called on all parents, teachers and education staff to be vaccinated.

“Visitor restrictions will be imposed on schools”

Emphasizing that they want to keep the schools as isolated as possible, Özer said, “We want to control the entrance and exit to the school from the outside. For this, our school directorates, provincial and district national education directorates will impose a visitor restriction to schools.” he said.

“The education of our children is the future of our country”

Özer stated that every citizen who enters the school, even if it is a parent, will be checked for the HES code:

“When there is no negativity in the HES code, they will definitely enter the school environment by wearing masks. We will all behave sensitively. Because the education of our children is the future of our country. It should no longer be interrupted. I would like to specifically point out that. As long as we take the precautions, we have the opportunity to continue education and training face to face. I would like to call out to all our parents, teachers, service and canteen staff. First of all, let's follow our rules for their own health and then our students and education to continue face to face. Let's take all kinds of health measures."
