İMAMOĞLU: “HIDE YOUR VOICE WELL”

Speaking after the start of the Aquathlon and water polo competitions, İmamoğlu said to Mert Palavaroğlu, the presenter of the program, “Hide your voice well. In competitions, the rankings may be increasing in the competitions you offer. The 2036 Olympics will be in Istanbul. Now I look into the eyes of the children to see who will be the Olympic champion," he said.

Stating that Istanbul is the most beautiful city in the world and reminding him of his saying, "If the world were a country, Istanbul would be its capital," İmamoğlu said, "We also want to be at the forefront of the world in sports. This city has high energy. They have children and teenagers. We also know the talents," he said.

OUR AIM IS TO BRING THE OLYMPICS TO ISTANBUL

Emphasizing the importance of taking steps together for Istanbul to become a sports city, İmamoğlu continued his speech as follows:

“We held a meeting called Istanbul sports strategy and future plan. Our aim here is to bring the 2036 Olympics to Istanbul. We are ambitious about it. At the same time, we will bring the Paralympic Olympics and Games here. I hope no Olympics will be without spectators from now on. Let him always have such an audience.”

WE NEED TO GROW MORE

Stating that as Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, they have taken steps in line with the strategic plan, İmamoğlu said, "Our applications for Sports Istanbul school were intense. We were happy with that too. We have schools in sixteen branches including e-sports, it continues. I really think that we have given thousands of our children and young people good times here, but they need to grow up," he said.

ATTENTION TO THE BOAT PROBLEM ON THE COAST

Expressing that he did not find the fillings made on the sea shores correct, but that he found it correct to consider what was built in Maltepe as a sports field, İmamoğlu also underlined that there is a boat problem on the shore and shared the following details:

“We recently opened very nice indoor and outdoor tennis courts here, we were together with you. Again, we are preparing a very important athletics track. We are preparing an athletics track with the consistency of the European Championship. Therefore, we care about this area. Of course, the main focus here is; being together with the sea and enriching this place with water sports. There are some boat occupations here. We're talking to the governor's office. We need to remove the boat occupations here. This place should belong entirely to sports. Our Mayor of Maltepe, Mr. Ali Kılıç, has justifiably reproached here, saying, 'It is unfortunate for Maltepe that there is no place to swim despite the coastline.' True. However, there is such an opportunity here. We are starting a journey to prepare some physical conditions as soon as possible and dedicate this place entirely to athletes and clubs. I will ask this every month. I will talk to my friends; What did you do this month, how was the process about the boats, what do we expect from the governorship? I will ask them all."

EVERY CHILD'S DREAMS MAY FREE LIKE KITES

Providing information about the “Water Sports Days in Istanbul” event, İmamoğlu said, “Our Disabled Individuals Sports and Kite Festival continues in Orhangazi City Park, Maltepe Sports Facility. By demonstrating the unifying power of sports, we will bring together children with disabilities and their families, who receive education in our facilities, with all children. They will meet at different sports events, mingle and then have a good time flying kites together. We wish that the dreams of every child in Istanbul are as free as kites and reach the sky.”

TO SEE METERS, BUSENAZS…

Emphasizing the importance of making the existence of a barrier-free life felt in every moment of Istanbul, İmamoğlu said, “I also think that every child's dreams should be at the highest level in Istanbul. If we do all these, we will always see the successes of Mete and Busenaz as in the Olympics. The number of Olympic medals issued by the population of the Republic of Turkey approaching 85 million -yes, it is successful compared to previous years; While I was on the way, I called and congratulated the President of the Turkish Olympic Committee - let me tell you that it does not suit us. In other words, let's also say that our talented nation of 85 million deserves much greater success.”

WAS A MEDAL AND GIVES A trophy

İmamoğlu presented the medals and trophies of the top three athletes in six sports clubs competing in water polo competitions. In the competitions, Adalar Water Sports Club placed 1st, Tofaş Sports Club 2nd, Heybeliada Sports Club 3rd. After İmamoğlu's program there, he moved to the IMM Maltepe Beach Sports Facility Athletics Track. He participated in the Sports and Kite Festival with 600 disabled individuals and a total of 1.000 participants.
