During the operations carried out at the Habur Customs Gate by the Ministry of Commerce Customs Enforcement teams, a total of 690 mobile phones were seized in the fuel tank of a wanted bus and in the secret compartments created at the junction of the wheels of a truck.

As a result of the risk analysis carried out by the personnel of the Habur Customs Enforcement Smuggling and Intelligence Directorate, two vehicles coming from Iraq to Turkey were evaluated as risky. Buses and trucks arriving in Turkey at intervals of a few days were followed up at the customs area.

In the first operation, a suspicious concentration was found in the fuel tank of the bus, which was sent for x-ray scanning. Thereupon, the bus was taken to the search hangar for detailed control. In the examination made here, it was understood that a part of the fuel tank of the vehicle was cut, and then the cut piece was re-welded and mounted to the tank. This section was cut open by the guards and a total of 517 mobile phones of various brands were seized, wrapped in black bags and packed in a waterproof way in the secret compartment created in the vehicle warehouse.

In the other operation, which was carried out a few days after this operation, the Customs Enforcement teams suspected a truck this time, and the truck, which was deemed risky after the analysis, was sent to the x-ray scanning device.

After the scan, suspicious density was found at the junction points of the wheels, which are called the truck and axle. Thereupon, the vehicle was taken to the search hangar and the tires of the truck were removed first in order to reach the areas where suspicious density was detected. When the tires were removed, it was seen that the wheel joints of the truck trailers were closed with welding. When the parts welded to these areas were cut and opened, a total of 173 smart mobile phones were seized in the specially created secret compartment.

As a result of the devoted work of the Customs Enforcement teams, mobile phones with a market value of approximately 2 million liras, which were found in the secret compartments of the vehicles, and the vehicles used in the transportation of these phones were seized.
