Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar spoke at the 1st Ship Sheet Metal Cutting Ceremony of Pakistan MİLGEM Corvette Project 1st Ship Landing and Offshore Patrol Ship Project held at Istanbul Shipyard Command.

Our President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President of Pakistan, Mr. Deputy President Fuat Oktay, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop, Chief of General Staff Yaşar Güler, Naval Forces Commander Admiral Adnan Özbal and Deputy Minister of National Defense Muhsin Dere also attended the ceremony, which was attended by Arif Alvi.

In his speech at the ceremony, Minister Akar said that there are deep-rooted ties of friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Turkey.

Stating that the PN MİLGEM Project, beyond the construction of a ship, has much deeper meanings in terms of carrying the strong ties of brotherhood from the past to the future, Minister Akar said, “The other projects we will implement together are that the borders and distances are only on the ground for us, to the hearts of the peoples of the two countries and to the brotherhood. He has shown to the whole world that there is no limit to his relations. On the other hand, our Akhisar ship will further increase the mobility of our Naval Forces Command and its effectiveness, deterrence and prestige in our Blue Homeland.” he said.

Minister Akar emphasized that Turkey faces various threats and dangers due to the instability in its immediate geography, and under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Turkey, which has become a subject in international relations and whose sphere of influence and interest is expanding day by day, closely follows the developments in the world. He noted that he took the necessary precautions by acting proactively.

Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar stated that the Turkish Armed Forces should be strong in order to contribute to both Turkey's security and global and regional peace and stability.

Underlining that it is essential to closely follow not only today's but also the future's defense and security technologies, and to make the necessary preparations accordingly, Minister Akar said, "Developing the domestic and national defense industry in this direction is also a vital goal of ours. Because a strong defense industry means a strong army. Our country has made great progress and achieved success in the field of defense industry, as in every other field. used the phrases.

Noting that the rate of locality and nationality in the defense sector has exceeded the level of 70 percent, Minister Akar said:

“These strategic moves made in the defense industry have strengthened our hand in both military technology competition and economic competition. The successful results obtained in the field also reveal this very clearly. While we were procuring even our infantry rifles from abroad in the past, we have now reached the level of designing, constructing, manufacturing and exporting our national infantry rifles, smart precision ammunition, multi-barreled rocket launchers, Storm howitzers, UAVs, SİHAs, ATAK helicopters, frigates and warships. . We can easily say that the Turkish defense industry has reached a point where it cannot be compared with the past. The breakthroughs and achievements we have made with a domestic and national understanding in the defense industry have been a source of pride not only for our nation, but also for friendly and brotherly countries. Hopefully it will continue to be so in the future.”

Minister Akar stated that meeting the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces as well as the defense needs of friendly, brotherly and allied countries is another source of happiness and pride.

Minister Akar said, “Sharing our experience in the defense industry with friendly and brotherly countries, especially our Pakistani brothers, and benefiting from their experiences is a great and important gain for our countries.” made its assessment.

Stating that the realization of the MİLGEM Project at the planned time despite the negative effects of the Kovid-19 pandemic is important in terms of demonstrating joint project management capability, work discipline and determination, Minister Akar added that the management system gained by the defense industry will ensure that the maritime patrol ship is delivered at the planned time.
