Contributing to the development of Turkish sailing with its race sponsorships and sailing teams that include its employees, Eker Dairy Products will once again represent our country in an international race. Eker Sailing Team, which will participate in the J/7 World Championship to be held in California, USA between 15-2021 August 70, will be the helmsman of Eker Dairy Products Deputy General Manager Nevra Eker Güryel.

Nevra Eker Güryel will thus be the first Turkish female helmsman to participate in the J/70 World Championship. Being the only Turkish team to participate in the race, Eker's most important goal in the race will be to have the honor of being the first Turkish team to take the podium in the Corinthian class.

Eker Sailing Team, which was the winner of the Corinthian Class in the J / 70 Midwinter Championship it participated before, is preparing for the J / 70 World Championship under the leadership of Nevra Eker Güryel.

Nevra Eker Güryel, who is the helmsman of Legend Ladies, where Eker female employees take part in many important races, will thus gain an international racing experience.

“I did not want to miss the opportunity to participate in this tournament”

Nevra Eker Güryel conveyed her thoughts before the race as follows:

“Although I have been competing in the J/70 class in Turkey for only 2 years, I did not want to miss the opportunity to participate in this tournament with Ahmet Eker's experienced and successful team. I am very excited as it will be my first international race. There is no end to learning in sailing, I think this race will be a very good experience for me. The joy of racing in One design, J / 70 is completely different. The boats in this class are very easy to control, the price is reasonable, the need for a team is small, and they have the opportunity to participate in many international tournaments. The balloon view is incredibly enjoyable. I wish that the number of boats competing in the J/70 class in Turkey would reach 30-40. I believe that the growth in the number of boats competing in the J/70 will create a good opportunity for both young sailors to continue sailing and racing at an advanced age, as well as for young sailors to develop.”

“We aim to be in the top 3 in the Corinthian class”

Burak Zengin, the coach of the team, summarized his racing strategies as follows:

“Our Eker Sailing Team will go to the United States to break new ground under the leadership of its new star, Nevra Eker Güryel.

Within the scope of the organization, a total of 10 races will be held and the rankings will be determined at the end of ten races. Our goal will be to be the first Turkish team to take the podium in this championship by placing in the top three in the Corinthian class. We trust our team very much in achieving the success we aim for.”

The team will include four sailors

Eker Kaymak Team, which will go to the United States in a short time, will consist of the following names: Nevra Eker Güryel, Dora Arıbaş, Kerem Özkan and Burak Baran.

The race, which will be hosted by California Yacht Club, will be held between 7-15 August 2021 and approximately 100 teams will compete in the organization.
