Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, President Tunç SoyerAs part of the "Green Izmir" vision of . Thanks to these facilities, which will be put into service at the end of 2021, 232 tons of carbon emissions per year will be prevented.

Izmir Metropolitan Municipality continues its efforts to meet the electricity needs of its facilities from renewable energy sources. Bergama Slaughterhouse, Aliağa Fire Department, Uzundere Multi-Purpose Sports Hall, Selçuk Transfer Station, ESHOT Gediz Workshop, Bayraklı Having installed solar panels on the roof of Ekrem Akurgal Life Park, Çiğli Family Counseling Center, and Seyrek Dog Shelter facilities, the Metropolitan will increase the number of facilities that meet its electricity needs from the sun to 5 with the 13 solar power plants that will be put into service by the end of this year.

Soyer: “Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent”

İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, who stated that they aim to use public resources effectively while reducing the total greenhouse gas emissions in İzmir with the solar power plants that they plan to rapidly increase in number. Tunç Soyer“Our goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 percent by 40. For this, we carry out many studies that reduce energy consumption and focus on renewable energy sources. We are working hard to protect the right to life of people and all other living things in our city. Our aim is to build a circular city that is compatible with nature, resilient, high in welfare and at the same time conserving its biodiversity.”

both nature and economy

A solar power plant with a capacity of 310 kilowatts is being installed on the roofs of Mustafa Necati Cultural Center whose construction was completed in Yeşilyurt, Pool İzmir located in Bornova Aşık Veysel Recreation Area, Konak Tunnel Fixed Facilities in Yeşildere, Çeşme and Torbalı Çaybaşı Fire Brigade buildings. With these facilities, 232 tons of carbon emissions per year will be prevented. With the commissioning of 5 solar power plants, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality will generate approximately 13 million 2 thousand kilowatt hours of electricity annually from 970 facilities. This amount, which will meet the electricity needs of a thousand households, corresponds to an annual economic value of 3,5 million liras. Thus, the emission of 482 tons of carbon dioxide will be prevented.

More than 4 tons of carbon emissions were prevented

Bayraklı Ekrem Akurgal Life Park, Selçuk Transfer Station, Seyrek Dog Shelter, Aliağa Fire Department, Bergama Slaughterhouse, Uzundere Multi-Purpose Sports Hall, Çiğli Family Counseling Center are listed as other facilities in İzmir that use electricity produced from renewable energy sources. At ESHOT's facilities in Buca, the electric buses connected to ESHOT are charged with electricity produced from solar panels. Thanks to 8 facilities, 250 tons of carbon emissions are prevented annually, and enough electricity is produced to meet the electricity needs of approximately one thousand households. With the facilities commissioned to date, more than 4 tons of carbon emissions have been prevented in total.

ESHOT to build two more solar power plants

ESHOT General Directorate is installing two more new solar power plants (GES). ESHOT, which is preparing to implement the second phase of the solar power plant in Gediz Atelier, will also install photovoltaic panels that generate electricity from solar energy on the roofs of Çiğli Ataşehir facilities.

The 924 kilowatt Ataşehir Solar Power Plant is planned to be commissioned in 2022, and the second phase of the 1750 kilowatt Gediz Solar Power Plant is planned to be commissioned in 2023. With the Gediz and Ataşehir solar power plants, a total of 355 tons of carbon emissions will be prevented annually.
