Turkey's long-running marathon 'Uludağ Ultra Trail' will carry Bursa to the top. The introductory meeting of the marathon was held in Uludağ with the participation of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş.
With the support and contributions of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, which has implemented many brand activities in order to spread sports to the grassroots and to ensure that youth and children meet with sports, the 'Uludağ Premium Ultra Trail', which was held for the third time this year at the summit of Uludağ, will start on Saturday, July 3rd.
The “Uludağ Premium Ultra Trail”, which will be held under the coordination of the Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Services Department, will be held in 1 general classification and 5 different age categories. So far, 100 athletes have registered for the long-running marathon. Until the race day, the number of athletes is expected to reach 500. Combining the magnificent nature and local texture of Uludağ and its surroundings with its technical structure, the 'Uludağ Premium Ultra Trail' will be an unforgettable experience for all runners. The long-running race, which is a candidate to become Turkey's most important ultra-marathon with the number of athletes and the participation of the public, will make a significant contribution to nature sports tourism.
The longest stage of the race, which will bring together thousands of domestic and foreign athletes at the summit of Uludağ, is 66 kilometers, with 30, 16, 6 and 100 kilometer stages. Marathon runners will witness the unique beauty of Uludağ by passing Zeyniler, Cumalıkızık, Kürekli Waterfall, Saitabat Waterfall, Glacial Ponds, Uludağ Peak, Softaboğan Waterfall, Bakacak, Kurbağa Kaya and Sarıalan. The start of the 30 kilometers and 16 races, which will be run on Saturday morning, will be given by Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş.
On Sunday, July 4, when the winners of the marathon will receive their medals, a free public walk to Softaboğan Waterfall will be held. Participants in the event will discover Softaboğan Waterfall with a 6-kilometer walk through the forest, with 5 squares being the starting point, accompanied by a guide.

Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Alinur Aktaş underlined that many organizations have not been held for a year and a half due to the pandemic, and said, “We took the first step of normalizing our social life with the acceleration of vaccination, mask distance and cleaning rules. Again, we are going back to the days missed in sports by paying maximum attention to the rules. Sports are indispensable for a healthy life. With this move; As Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, we support our amateur sports clubs in order to spread sports to the grassroots and to ensure that young people and children meet with sports. We provide our schools with sports halls and special facilities for all branches, and modernize the existing ones under today's conditions. In addition to all these sports investments, we also support brand events in sports tourism and bring many international sports organizations to our Bursa.”
205 athletes registered
Emphasizing that the 'Uludağ Premium Ultra Trail', which will be held in Uludağ for the third time this year, will be realized with the support of Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, Aktaş said, “Uludağ Premium Ultra Trail, 1 general classification and 5 different age groups, under the coordination of the Metropolitan Municipality Youth and Sports Services Department. will be made in the category. All athletes registered for the race, which will be the scene of various side events for 3 days, will be transported to the summit of Uludağ by cable car free of charge. Runners who complete the tracks approved by the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) will also have international points determined for each track. The starting point of Uludağ Ultra Marathon was determined as the square in Kurbağa Kaya. The start of the races will be on Saturday morning, July 3, with a 66-kilometer track.
It will start with a music concert.
Stating that they will bring an important summer festival to Uludağ together with the long-running marathon, Aktaş said that on Saturday, July 3, when the races will start, at 20.00, the Bursa State Symphony Orchestra will present a music concert to all athletes at 6 Square. Aktaş continued his words as follows; “On Sunday, July 4, when the marathon winners will receive their medals, a free public walk to Softaboğan Waterfall will be held. Bursa Deputy Governor Halil Serdar Cevheroğlu said, “You know, Bursa is a city of sports. It is the only city in Turkey that has won the championship in 2 sports branches. Some competitions have been canceled due to the pandemic. As of July 1, we are accelerating normalization. In this context, there are two separate organizations. Cycling and marathon competitions will be held. Without giving up the measures, our National Parks, health institutions and the gendarmerie will take their precautions," he said.
Uludağ Premium Ultra Trail Race Director Engin Çetinaya said, “Ultra Marathon is a trail run of 50 kilometers and more. We delayed 100 kilometers due to Pandmei. There are 4 athletes in 200 tracks. This means 2 thousand 500 visitors for Bursa. It will be an economic resource for Bursa and our tradesmen.”

Ömer Kızıl, Vice Chairman of Uludağ Beverage Board, said, “We never forgot Bursa, even as we became an international brand. We tried to keep our brand prominent in international organizations related to sponsorships. The more Uludağ Beverage is known in the world and in Turkey, the bigger the events will be for us. We have combined many brands with organizations. Here we have our Metropolitan and Governorship behind us. The most famous of this competition is held in France. The people who will participate in this competition are high-level people. A hotel was opened within it. We have guaranteed 80 rooms, but 180 rooms are full. I called many hotel owners. Let us be an example to these organizations. Let's do other activities, let Uludağ be active for 12 months. This is a very serious shooting area. The bigger Uludağ grows, the bigger we grow.”
Teleferik AŞ Chairman of the Board İlker Cumbul promised that they would support all kinds of activities to be held in order to use Uludağ 12 months of the year.
