IVF treatment gives the green light to the solution of infertility problem all over the world. Turkey stands out among the countries preferred for treatment. MediVip Health Services Gynecology, Obstetrics and IVF Specialist Op. Dr. Hatice Altuntaş Balcı said, "Turkey welcomes many couples, especially from the USA, Russia and European countries, with its successful practices in the field of gynecology and obstetrics, especially in vitro fertilization."

The pandemic, which has been a part of our lives for nearly two years, has also affected the course of some treatment processes in different fields. IVF was one of them. Noting that many women suspended their IVF treatments with the onset of the pandemic, MediVip Health Services Gynecology, Obstetrics and IVF Specialist Op. Dr. Hatice Altuntaş Balcı said, “According to a study published by the American Medical Reproductive Association, approximately 62% of women said that they would like to start IVF treatment when the pandemic restrictions were eased. We see that this picture, which has a similar course in our country, has started to change with the acceleration of normalization steps. It is obvious that Turkey's success in the field of IVF is effective in this. As a matter of fact, the number of people coming to Turkey for IVF treatment from abroad is increasing day by day.”

Women decide to have children during periods of reduced fertility

Reminding that gynecology and obstetrics come first among the clinical branches most preferred by international patients, Op. Dr. Hatice Altuntaş Balcı said, “Turkey hosts many couples, especially from the USA, Russia and European countries, with its successful practices in the field of gynecology and obstetrics, especially in vitro fertilization. Infertility, which is one of the most important health problems faced by individuals all over the world, is among the most common reasons that lead couples to IVF treatment. According to the American Pregnancy Association, male infertility is responsible for one-fifth of infertility cases. On the other hand, the increase in literacy rate and the decision to have a child later with career orientation are effective in women whose infertility is in the background. This decision process, which generally coincides with the age at which fertility declines for women, also increases the need for fertility treatments, especially in vitro fertilization.”

It is recommended that people with Covid start treatment 28 days after recovery.

Drawing attention to the points that those who want to start IVF treatment should pay attention to, Op. Dr. Altuntaş Balcı said, “In vitro fertilization is a method used to eliminate problems such as infertility, infection, clogging of the tubes, poor sperm quality and advanced age, which prevent having children naturally. In this process, which involves performing the fertilization process under laboratory conditions and placing the fertilized eggs in the mother's womb, different techniques can be applied depending on the health status of the individuals. For example, in cases where the man is infertile, inoculation treatment, in which the sperm collected before the treatment is transferred into the uterus, can be used. Regardless of the technique used, it is very important to get support from reliable centers and specialist physicians, since it is a process that directly affects couples especially psychologically. In these days when we live with the reality of the pandemic, we recommend that people infected with Covid-19 wait 28 days after recovery to start treatment.”
