The Sports Hall and Swimming Pool facility, which will serve the Dokuz Eylül University Necat Hepkon Faculty of Sports Sciences and the Fevziye Hepkon Sports Sciences and Athlete Health Application and Research Center, located in the Seferihisar district of Izmir, was opened with a ceremony. DEU Rector Nükhet Hotar said that they completed the facility with the support of the philanthropist Necat Hepkon and that it will serve Turkish sports, and said that the national athletes of the future will grow up here.

The Sports Hall and Swimming Pool, which will serve the Dokuz Eylül University (DEU) Necat Hepkon Faculty of Sports Sciences and the DEU Fevziye Hepkon Sports Sciences and Athlete Health Application and Research Center, were opened in Seferihisar. To the opening of the sports facility, which was completed with the support of the philanthropist Necat Hepkon; DEU Rector Prof. Dr. Nükhet Hotar, Seferihisar District Governor Naci Aktaş, İzmir Youth and Sports Provincial Director Murat Eskici, DEÜ senior management and members, district protocol and political party representatives attended. The facility, designed as a swimming pool and sports complex, will be used by the students of the Necat Hepkon Faculty of Sports Sciences for specialization and swimming lessons, and for research to be carried out by the Fevziye Hepkon Sports Sciences and Athlete Health Application and Research Center.

Rector Hotar, who spoke at the opening of the facility, thanked the benefactor Necat Hepkon and the land donor Sayarer family and stated that DEU is a higher education institution that supports sports and athletes. In sports competitions, the goal is not only to win medals; Reminding that the athletes also represent their country and club, Hotar said, “We hope that our facility, which we believe will also train national athletes, will be beneficial to our institution, current and future athletes, Seferihisar, İzmir and our country.”

Stating that they are happy to bring the swimming pool and sports complex that will serve in the sports campus of DEU to Seferihisar, DEU Rector Prof. Dr. Nükhet Hotar said, “We came together for the opening of the work that we will leave to future generations. We would like to thank Necat Hepkon and his family, the great value of our Seferihisar and İzmir, the educational volunteer and esteemed donor, who have contributed greatly to our rapid progress to this point. Again, on behalf of myself and my institution, I would like to thank the members of the Sayarer family, who donated the land we are currently in, for educational purposes. Today, we are together in our facility, which is a candidate to be a complete complex with the faculty of a sports center, research and application center, laboratories and complementary sports areas. We have also received the allocation of a new land where an additional indoor sports hall, gymnasium and various sports fields will be built. We will quickly equip it," he said.

Rector Hotar, who stated that sports do not only include physical activities, said, “Sport is morality, thinking, a way of life. In sports competitions, the goal is not just to win a gold medal; is to represent his country and club, to struggle, to respect his opponents. The greatest responsibility in the acquisition of these values ​​​​belongs to the person himself. Those who will support this approach are families, coaches, educational institutions and the world of science. As a university, we are a higher education institution that supports sports and athletes. As a requirement of our founding principles, we strive in this area and work to make new beginnings.”

Reminding that DEU hosts national athletes, Rector Hotar stated that they train students with a scientific perspective at the Necat Hepkon Faculty of Sports Sciences, and they implement investments that meet the needs of the sports community. Hotar stated that the Fevziye Hepkon Sports Sciences and Athlete Health Application and Research Center, which was established recently, will increase the sports activities in the district. Stating that they are continuing the construction of the Olympic Swimming Pool located in the Buca Tınaztepe Campus of Dokuz Eylül University and that they aim to complete it in a short time, Hotar said, “Our facility, which we believe will train national athletes, will be beneficial for our institution, the athletes of the present and the future, our Seferihisar, İzmir and our country. let it be,” he said.

İzmir Youth and Sports Provincial Director Murat Eskici stated that he had come to examine the construction of the facility before and said, “I would like to thank everyone for completing it in such a short time. Our Honorable Rector Nükhet Hotar gives a special importance to Turkish sports in İzmir, the pearl of the Aegean. Athletes take care of our youth. Our Rector opened the facilities on the central campus of DEU to our national athletes. I believe that young people who will serve Turkish sports will come out of this facility.”
