Ankara Metropolitan Municipality organized a photography exhibition at Zafer Çarşısı Fine Arts Gallery on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the 47 July Cyprus Peace Operation. The exhibition, which was prepared in cooperation with the Turkish Muarif Veterans Association and includes 107 photographs, will remain open until July 18.

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality organized a photography exhibition for the 20th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation on 1974 July 47.

The photography exhibition, prepared in cooperation with the Turkish Muarif Veterans Association, was opened at the Kızılay Zafer Çarşısı Fine Arts Gallery.

THE EXHIBITION HAS 107 PHOTOS ABOUT THE CYPRUS PEACE OPERATION

Opening of the exhibition prepared by the Department of Culture and Social Affairs; Head of Culture and Social Affairs Department Ali Bozkurt, Head of Health Affairs Department Seyfettin Aslan, Head of Earthquake Risk Management and Urban Improvement Department Mutlu Gürler, Cyprus veterans and many guests attended.

The exhibition, which includes 107 photographs describing the Cyprus Peace Operation, can be visited until 18 July.

"WE ARE ORGANIZING A PHOTO EXHIBITION TO REMEMBER THE CYPRUS PEACE OPERATION"

Stating that they are happy to bring together the works that bear witness to history with the people of the Capital, Ali Bozkurt, Head of Culture and Social Affairs Department, said:

“The 1963th anniversary of the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation, the date of the end of the cruelty inflicted by the Greeks on the Turks in Cyprus since 47. As Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we are organizing a photography exhibition in order not to forget today. I hope it will raise awareness in Ankara in terms of reminding the people of Ankara about the suffering experienced in the 1974 period. We will also give a Cyprus concert with our Kent Orchestra this weekend. On the evening of July 20, we also prepared a special documentary about Cyprus, which will be broadcast on ABB TV.”

THANKS TO PRESIDENT YAVAS FROM CYPRUS VETERANS

Cyprus veterans thanked Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who organized an exhibition in order not to forget the operation, which has an important place in Turkish history, and made the following assessments:

-Ertan Demirbaş (Cyprus Veteran/First Lieutenant): “I served in the Airborne Brigade in the Cyprus Peace Operation. Our strength was limited, but our faith and belief were very strong, and we were proud of successfully fulfilling the orders given to us. I would like to thank the Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality for organizing an exhibition about the Cyprus Peace Operation.”

-Mithat Işık (Cyprus Veteran Retired Colonel/President of the Turkish Honorary Veterans Association): “Ankara Metropolitan Municipality asked us for photographs depicting the Cyprus Peace Operation. It was a meaningful exhibition to explain the importance of the Cyprus Peace Operation to the younger generations.”

-Aziz Atar (Retired Colonel/Cyprus Veteran): “I am very happy to participate in the exhibition about the Cyprus Peace Operation, which is very important for Turkey. I would like to thank the Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mansur Yavaş.”

-Ahmet Göksan (Cyprus Veteran): “It is a very honorable event that 47 years passed since the Cyprus Peace Operation and a photography exhibition was organized. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the photography exhibition, especially our President Mansur Yavaş.”
