Istanbul Airport passed inspections under 5 different headings for Airport Health Accreditation…

Istanbul Airport has strengthened its place among the most hygienic airports in Turkey and the world, with the certificate granted this year after rigorous inspections by the Airports Council International (ACI). Istanbul Airport, which was deemed worthy to receive the Airport Health Accreditation certificate by meeting all the conditions, passed the inspection under 19 different headings on General Information, Covid-5 Action Plans, Measures for Passengers, Measures for Personnel, Compliance and Cooperation.

Within the scope of the audit; Procedures prepared for Covid-19, risk analysis, social distance practices, cleaning and disinfection processes, use of masks and visors, health screening activities, density management at terminal entrances and areas with high passenger flow, use of technology and contactless transactions, personnel training and working environment , the operation of the plans related to the stakeholders at the airport and the committees established for Covid were evaluated.

İGA recorded the examples of applications in which the health and hygiene conditions in all areas of Istanbul Airport were brought to the fore, to the questions of the International Airports Council (ACI) inspectors. With a total of 122 records consisting of videos and photographs, Istanbul Airport achieved a great success by passing the audit completely.

We have achieved sustainability in health measures…

Making statements regarding the re-qualification of Istanbul Airport for the “Airport Health Accreditation” certificate, IGA Airport Operations Chairman and General Manager Samsunlu said; “The whole world has been grappling with a health crisis that has deeply affected humanity for about 2 years. With the acceleration of vaccine studies and the arrival of the summer months, we have entered a process close to the best scenario in terms of aviation. As İGA, we carried out important studies for health by making an intense effort until we saw this optimistic picture. Seeing that the health applications at Istanbul Airport were implemented in different sectors later on is the biggest proof of how right we are doing our job. This year, we continue to work to offer our passengers a 'safe travel' by keeping hygiene at the highest level. We were entitled to receive the “Airport Health Accreditation” certificate, which was given to Istanbul Airport by the Airports Council International (ACI) for the first time last year, by signing another first. With this certificate, which we received through audits, we have also ensured the sustainability of our practices in the field of health. I especially want to emphasize that; We will never compromise on the hygiene standards achieved at Istanbul Airport," he said.

ACI World Director-General Luis Felipe de Oliveira and ACI EUROPE Director-General Olivier Jankovec said: “Airports prioritize health and cleanliness in order to restore confidence in travel for both passengers and the government. This recovery process will take place in the best way with a coordinated and global approach in line with international standards. Airports Council International's Health Accreditation program plays a key role in this regard. We underline the commitment of the airports, which aim to obtain re-accreditation, on reopening and passenger safety in the next period. A year ago, we got to know Istanbul as the first accredited airport in the world. Now we are celebrating the fact that Istanbul is the first airport to be re-accredited. They are in an exemplary position in the industry, with their unwavering attention to the health and well-being of passengers, personnel and the public.”
