Emirates, one of the first airlines to pilot the IATA Travel Pass in April, now offers its passengers traveling to 10 cities with the IATA Travel Pass solution and plans to expand the application to all routes in its network in the coming weeks. In addition, Emirates has partnered with Alhosn, the official app in the UAE for contact tracing and health documents related to COVID-19, to offer its passengers greater convenience and a smoother travel experience.

Adel Al Redha, Emirates Chief Operating Officer, said: “Over the past months, we have truly stepped up our biometric, contactless and digital verification projects to provide our passengers with even greater convenience and assurance when flying with Emirates. From our biometric route at Dubai International Airport (DXB) to initiatives like the IATA Travel Pass and integration with health authority databases, these projects offer many benefits such as better passenger experience, reduced paper usage and travel document checks, as well as greater efficiency and reliability. We are grateful for the support provided by the authorities and our business partners in the sector in the successful implementation of these projects that strengthen the world-leading aviation capacity of Emirates and Dubai.”

Emirates passengers traveling from Dubai to London, Barcelona, Madrid, Istanbul, New York JFK, Moscow, Frankfurt, Charles De Gaulle and Amsterdam can now use the IATA Travel Pass app to get the latest on COVID-19, such as the location of PCR testing labs. They will have access to travel information and manage COVID-19 travel documents such as vaccine and the most up-to-date PCR test results. Passengers on these flights will receive an SMS and e-mail with the activation code and instructions for downloading the IATA Travel Pass application.

The company's plans to implement the IATA Travel Pass solution across its global flight network are ongoing.

Since the trial began, Emirates has been working closely with IATA and its partners to improve the IATA Travel Pass experience based on passenger feedback. The IATA Travel Pass application is now available to both iOS and Android users, and can also be used by passengers without a biometric passport.

From July, Emirates will expand its existing integration with Dubai Health Authority (DHA), integrating check-in systems with the Alhosn app. Thus, passengers traveling from the UAE will benefit from quickly and easily digital recall and verification of their COVID-19 medical records, regardless of where they have their vaccinations or COVID-19 PCR and antibody testing done in the UAE. Passengers who choose to have their COVID-19 related health information accessed for travel purposes via the Alhosn app can be assured that their COVID-19 medical record information will be promptly deleted from Emirates systems after the check-in formalities are completed.

Emirates passengers can travel with peace of mind at every point of their journey with comprehensive biosafety protocols, generous and flexible booking policies, and free multi-risk travel insurance including COVID-19 coverage on every flight, confident that every care will be taken to protect their comfort and health.

IATA Travel Pass is a digital solution developed by the airline industry organization, the International Air Transport Association (IATA). It aims to provide governments, airlines, laboratories and travelers with up-to-date information on COVID-19 related regulations and ensure the secure flow of necessary information among all stakeholders.

Alhosn is a joint venture between the UAE Ministry of Health and local health authorities and has been approved by the National Department of Emergency and Crisis Management. It is the UAE's official COVID-19 results app, offering quick access to COVID-19 test results and vaccine information.
