Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank inaugurated the facility of “Halavet Gıda”, the largest gelatin production capacity of Europe, in Gerede OSB. Minister Varank noted that with the new facility of Halavet Gıda, Turkey will have a much larger share of world exports, and stated that they expect the factory's 2021 turnover to exceed 80 million dollars and its total employment to over 180.
Evaluating the growth figures of the first quarter of 2021, Minister Varank said, “We achieved a serious growth rate of 7 percent in the first quarter of the year. In the latest reports published by the OECD, our economy is predicted to be one of the economies that will show the strongest recovery.” said.
TURKEY'S FIRST COLOGEN PRODUCTION
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Minister Varank stated that they have officially opened the largest factory in Europe in terms of food gelatin production capacity, designed and implemented by Halavet Gıda with a visionary perspective. Explaining that the first collagen production in Turkey was made by Halavet Gıda in 2012, Varank said, “Our company, which has reversed the import and export rates with beef gelatin and collagen production, will hopefully enable Turkey to get a much larger share from the world's exports with this new facility.” used the phrases.
POWER TO THE ECONOMY
Varank explained that the factory of the company in Tuzla, which exports 2020 percent of the 56 million dollars turnover it achieved in 60, exports to 60 countries, and that this factory, which was established with an investment of 25 million dollars, will add strength to the company's strength and Turkey's economy. Explaining that the factory, which will produce for the pharmaceutical, food, health and cosmetics sectors, has started with an annual edible gelatin production capacity of 80 thousand tons that will initially employ 7 people, Varank said that in 2022, they will put new collagen lines with an annual capacity of 5 thousand tons, and that the target is to increase the production by a percentage He noted that 90 of them were exported.
INVESTMENT, EMPLOYMENT, PRODUCTION AND EXPORT
Pointing out that they expect the 2021 turnover to exceed 80 million dollars and the total employment to over 180 with the factory, Varank said, “As the Ministry, we never leave such successful companies alone. We have previously issued an investment incentive certificate for Halavet Gıda's factory in Tuzla, as well as for this factory. As the government, we are determined to keep Turkey's agenda on investment, employment, production and exports. We are opening one of the best examples of this. So is it enough? I do not think so. I believe that an R&D center would suit Halavet Gıda, which started its gelatin adventure with its R&D studies, with the support of our ministry.” he said.
Stating that Halavet Gıda has halal certification certificate from many international organizations, especially TSE, in its factory in Tuzla, Varank said, “I hope this facility, which we opened, will have received the halal certificate with the completion of the production processes and the creation of an archive record that can be examined.” said.
Minister Varank pointed out that world trade has been going through great tests due to the 2008 crisis, regional conflicts, global warming and epidemic, and said, “Despite the negative climate in the world, we managed to close 2020 with positive growth. In the first quarter of 2021, we achieved a serious growth rate of 7 percent. In the latest reports published by the OECD, our economy is predicted to be one of the economies that will show the strongest recovery.” said.
55 MILLION LIRA RESOURCES
Stating that 2 billion dollars of gelatin exports were made in the world according to the figures of last year and that Turkey could only get a 46 percent share from this export with 2,3 million dollars, Varank said, “We have included gelatin production within the scope of medium-high technology investments, we are making use of our 4th region supports. Through TÜBİTAK, we have transferred 100 million TL of resources to 55 projects in the food sector, especially in the production of edible gelatin and protein. At TÜBİTAK MAM Food Institute, we carry out R&D projects on value-added production and technology transfer. Hopefully, we will continue to walk confidently towards our goal of a great and strong Turkey with this union of forces between the public, university and private sectors.” he said.
