Antalya Metropolitan Municipality has implemented the sensored pedestrian crossing project to draw attention to the priority right in pedestrian crossings. The pedestrian crossing with sensors, which was implemented for the first time in Turkey, is activated when pedestrians cross the street. The burning lamps warn the vehicles and ensure the priority and safety of the pedestrians.

Metropolitan Municipality Department of Transportation Planning and Rail System evaluated the complaints from the citizens and realized a first in Turkey. A pedestrian crossing with sensors was built on İsmet Gökşen Street in Muratpaşa district where vehicle and pedestrian traffic is intense. The project, which was implemented to ensure traffic safety, was welcomed by both pedestrians and drivers.

PEDESTRIAN PRIORITY

A first in Turkey, a level pedestrian crossing with sensors ensures the safety of both citizens and traffic. The sensors activate when pedestrians pass by, enabling the warning lamps on the road to turn on. Thus, vehicles on the road are warned and pedestrians are given priority.

WE WILL CONTINUE

Stating that the pedestrian crossings with sensors will continue, Nurettin Tonguç, Head of the Department of Transportation Planning and Rail System of the Metropolitan Municipality, said, “We implemented a study with similar examples abroad in one of the points where our citizens complain the most. . We will ensure the continuation of such projects.”
