IMM President Ekrem İmamoğluvisited the Kastamonians Solidarity Association in Beykoz. Imamoglu, who met with the managers and members of the association, was asked the question "What will happen to our houses on the route of Kanal Istanbul?" Stating that he is a person who speaks and makes the scientific side of Concrete Channel speak, İmamoğlu said, “Let our citizens question one thing: Has the current government held a meeting in Istanbul about Kanal Istanbul for 10 years? Did he do a workshop? Did he invite technical people and make a public statement? As the IMM President, we have repeatedly said, 'Invite us, tell us'. Who and what are you missing? Istanbul is full. Mr. President, who became the Mayor by saying 'I will not let the north of Istanbul touch', why is he trying to destroy the north now; I have not been able to understand. Look at his statements in 94,” he said.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu, visited the Kastamonu People's Solidarity Association (KAS-DER) in the Rüzgarlıbahçe District of Beykoz. KAS-DER Chairman Remzi Şen first hosted İmamoğlu in his office, accompanied by CHP Party Assembly members Sevgi Kılıç and Gökhan Günaydın. After the office visit, İmamoğlu, Şen and their delegation met with KAS-DER members in the conference hall. Making the first speech, Şen thanked İmamoğlu and the accompanying delegation for their visit.

“IN GERMANY YOU CANNOT SEE A 'STUTGARTLIAN ASSOCIATION'”

Speaking after Şen and drawing attention to the prevalence of fellow townsman associations in Turkey, İmamoğlu said, “Especially in Istanbul, there are very high level of fellow townsmen associations. In the world, it's just a feeling that belongs to us. For example; In Germany, in Munich, you won't see such a thing as the 'Stutgart People's Association'. Normally, they do not accept this situation. But it exists in our country,” he said. Pointing out the rapid migration to big cities due to the economic difficulties experienced by citizens among the reasons for this, İmamoğlu said, "When faced with difficulties, the process of adapting to their cities filled with memories far beyond what they wanted or wanted. Therefore, our citizens have never forgotten the land where they were born, where they came from, and where they were fed. He wanted to keep that alive," he said.

“THIS WORK HAS NO POLITICS”

Expressing that their primary responsibility is to serve Istanbul, İmamoğlu said, “If our Istanbul is good, know that every corner of Turkey will be good. We have an obligation to contribute to our Istanbul together. I find this part very important. Today, the way for both the country's economy and the country's living conditions or other elements to be much better passes through this. We can achieve this by working together. This has no politics. It's not about politics; If we can produce an area where it competes in always doing the right thing and always doing the good, by serving with an understanding that thinks about its city and country beyond politics, then both our cities and our country will win. I am a fellow citizen trying to walk this path. I am walking this road as your brother and friend from Istanbul. I think that the new generation understanding should be like this," he said.

“WE ARE RESPONSIBLE TO FIGHT AGAINST PROTECTING OUR CITY AND COUNTRY FROM BEAUTY”

Stating that the expectation of the youth is in this direction, İmamoğlu said, “This is what our new generation people want, who most realistically feel that no environment with meaningless language, meaningless fights and turmoil in the political chaos and confusion will not benefit. In this sense, we want to serve our Istanbul in a way that is really beneficial, thinks about its city, environment, life, people, every living thing, and gives every person the right to speak. We are aware that this service will be beneficial for the whole of Turkey. At the same time, we are responsible for fighting to protect our city and country from threats, betrayals and wrongdoings; especially us managers. In this respect, I would like to convey to all the members, managers and presidents of our esteemed Kastamonu Association that I will not hesitate to fight in every way, with the authority given to us by the process and the field granted to us by the law.”

ANSWER TO BETON ISTANBUL AND METRO QUESTIONS

After his speech, KAS-DER members asked İmamoğlu questions on different subjects. One of the questions was about the "Concrete Channel". Imamoglu was asked the question "What will happen to our houses on the Kanal Istanbul route?" Stating that he is a person who speaks and makes the scientific side of Beton Channel speak, İmamoğlu said, “Let our citizens question one thing: Has the current government held a meeting in Istanbul about Kanal Istanbul for 10 years? Did he do a workshop? Did he invite technical people and make a public statement? As the IMM President, we have repeatedly said, 'Invite us, tell us'. Who and what are you missing? Istanbul is full. Mr. President, who became the Mayor by saying 'I will not let the north of Istanbul touch', why is he trying to destroy the north now; I have not been able to understand. Look at their rhetoric in 94,” he said.

“WHO SEES, WHO DOES NOT? I hope it won't happen"

Saying, "By God, we are all mortal," Imamoglu said, "Who sees and who does not? Hopefully it won't. But we will all scientifically tell the next generation what a great betrayal it was. Let no one deceive anyone with such lies and possessions. A past minister says '500 thousand employments'. I've heard of 500 thousand residences, but what kind of employment is 500 thousand employments; I do not understand. This is a painful situation. It is a tunnel of fear,” he said. Noting that the Concrete Canal is a "journey to earn money" for a handful of people, İmamoğlu reiterated the fact that the road and bridge construction, which was announced as "fundamental", is a part of the already existing 3rd bridge road.

“DO NOT BE DECEIVED BY POLITICAL SHOWS”

Imamoglu, the question about the temporary suspension of the works on the Yenidogan-Cumhuriyet-Emek metro line, which cuts the Çekmeköy-Sancaktepe-Sultanbeyli metro line, said, “In Sancaktepe, the Presidency Investment Office rejected the Yenidogan line twice. It is a 2 kilometer arm and costs close to 7 million dollars. Without medium and long-term credits, there is no chance for these metro lines to be built. Currently there, the wells where the work will be carried out are closed. These wells were started wrong. You find a loan for a place, you go and drill a well there. We do not have a chance to obtain a loan without the approval of the Presidency. We are working hard on approved lines. If he'd given me that coke, we'd start. Don't be fooled by those who make political shows there. We distributed brochures from house to house,” he replied.
