Airbus launched the A350 aircraft project at its Wide Body Completion and Delivery Center in Tianjin, northern China. Realizing such a project for the first time outside of Europe for the A350, Airbus delivered one A350 aircraft to China Eastern Airlines at the Airbus Tianjin Wide Body Completion and Delivery Center within a week.

Airbus Vice President and Airbus China CEO George Xu said in a statement on the subject, “Airbus considers China as a long-term strategic market. We trust China's economy, the potential and vitality of the aviation industry," he said. “This new move demonstrates our determination to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with China and to better serve local customers through more local solutions and resources,” Xu said. According to Airbus China, it will deliver a total of five wide-body A2021s in Tianjin in 350, with more deliveries to Chinese customers as market demand picks up as the hub ramps up production.

The A350 is Airbus' new generation wide-body aircraft model that emphasizes environmental performance, flight range and comfort. To date, the company has received 350 orders for the A915, and has delivered approximately 430 orders worldwide. About 10 percent of deliveries were made to the Chinese market. Close to the site of the Airbus A320 Family Final Assembly Line in Tianjin, the Airbus Tianjin Wide Body Completion and Delivery Center includes cabin equipment, a furniture facility, and a paint shop.
