GÖKTÜRK Reconnaissance Surveillance Satellite System Development Project contract was signed between Presidency of Defense Industry Presidency (SSB) and Türk Aerospace Industries Inc. With the project; After the service life of the GÖKTÜRK-1 Satellite System is completed, it is aimed to meet the high resolution electro-optical satellite image needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.
In his speech here, SSB President Prof. SSB touched on the work of the SSB in the field of space and satellites. Dr. İsmail Demir said that the defense industry sector will make the highest contribution to the studies to be carried out in our country's Space Program under the coordination of the Turkish Space Agency. He reminded that they opened the ROKETSAN Space Systems and Advanced Technologies Center in order to ensure Turkey's independent access to space, and that the Probe Rocket launched with the Micro Satellite Launch System developed by ROKETSAN crossed the space limit and broke new ground in this field. Stating that their first goal with the DELTA-V company, which was established within the SSB, is to cross the space border with a hybrid fuel rocket engine, Demir said, "These studies are projects that we aim to develop rockets that will go into space and systems that will launch it, with domestic facilities."
Reminding that Turkey's first export in the field of space was the export of communication satellite technologies to Argentina by GSATCOM, a subsidiary of TUSAŞ, Demir said that they are working towards establishing a satellite company that will bring together the multi-structure in the country and will be the address of observation and communication satellites in Turkey. He said it continues. GÖKTÜRK Reconnaissance Surveillance Satellite will replace the GÖKTÜRK-2016 Satellite placed in its orbit in 1 and will meet the high resolution imagery needs of our country. Within the scope of the project, one satellite, one fixed ground station and one portable ground station and related systems/subsystems will be procured. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to develop and use many equipment and software locally. In addition, within the scope of the project; It is planned that our country will benefit more from the opportunities offered by space technology, use the existing opportunities, capabilities, human resources, infrastructure and talents in this field and ensure the continuity of the gains obtained.
