In line with the instructions given by President Ekrem Yüce with the aim of placing the bicycle at the center of social and business life, the Department of Transportation is carrying out studies to promote the use of bicycles.

The Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality Smart Bicycle System (SAKBIS), which was implemented in this context, has attracted great attention since the day it started to serve. 15 bicycles at 120 stations in various parts of the city were rented 28 thousand times in 172 months and used for a total of 5 million 673 thousand minutes. The number of people who signed up for the application to benefit from the advantages and discounted usage approached 16 thousand. Sakarya residents showed great interest in SAKBIS, especially in the summer period. Citizens cycle around the city, which has a network of 70 kilometers of bicycle paths.

Expressing that they are working to place the bicycle at the center of citizens' lives, President Ekrem Yüce said, “As Sakarya, we have taken important steps towards becoming a bicycle-friendly city. We have worked diligently to expand the bike path network throughout the city. In Sunflower Bicycle Valley, we hosted international organizations that the world talked about. Now we are working to popularize the SAKBIS application throughout the city. In the 28 months we started our service, a total of 172 thousand rentals have been made, which makes us happy. We welcome our citizens to take SAKBIS to the center of their lives by cycling, moving, and being healthy. In the next period, we aim to produce and implement brand new projects in this field with the slogan of 'bicycle friendly city'.” said.
